Buttler needs to start scoring runs if he wants to get back in the team

If we just want a wicketkeeper I'd much prefer James Foster/Chris Read.

I really think this should be the option for everything really, I mean just accept there's a place in the side open, and see who is racking them up, who knows, a youngster may do it. and yeah if Hales scores a bucketful again, then he should be considered to keep his place.

Other people that have failed should also be looked at like Robson, Ballance, and I know you'll hate it but Bell.

hate is too strong a word , i dont like the idea of it because as i added above bell has never really failed to score runs at domestic level even when he was struggling in an england shirt

Not sure about Compton opening. Think he is better at 3

Out of the ones we've tried, Lyth probably has the best chance although I'd give Carberry another go. Rogers and Voges have showed that age need not be an issue

I agree but I'd much prefer we can find an Opener than have Buttler return.

I agree Compton is better as a number three he was never an Opener at Somerset and (cureently) at Middlesex.

If Compton does open again though he will have to score quicker than he did against New Zealand.

If you haven't got an opener, which we don't seem to have how do we magically conjure one?

As I say, there's a lot of cricket between the end of this Test and the start of next, trhink we should all keep an open mind and see what develops. Vince and Malan scoring big in a-team, under-19 world-cup, domestic cricket, let's not shoehorn anyone in yet.

Talking of lions/u-19s and not about batting, really do think the Currans. particularly Sam are the future.

I meant as an Opener there's just not many options who hasn't been given a chance unfortunately.

Trescothick was also averaging in the 30's before given the chance and he did great for England.

Nope he'd just have to score more.

We're going to have a terrific attack at the Oval this season with these 2, Footitt has signed for us and also Stuart Meaker

I hope this makes tptb bring the quicker tracks back

Which isn't (currently) a problem at his current position of number three in which I think should be his permanent position.

People seem to have forgotten about Dunn, who is quick too. Yeah, Surrey not my fave county, but hopefully they can nurse these cricketers through, decent bit of rotation would be in order.

Surrey look very good for next season in all competitions especially with their bowling attack.

Yeah, forgot about Dunn

Alec Stewart seems to talk a lot of sense about protecting players from burnout so hopefully he uses the resourses sensibly

I think with all the talent we have , you may change your views and fall in love with the cricket we play

Worrying news for Boof

Australia's coach Darren Lehmann's immediate future is under a cloud after he was diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis during the final ODI against India.

Lehmann was hospitalised after the condition which he had previously suffered in 2007 was confirmed. Michael Di Venuto, the assistant coach, will take charge of the team during the T20I series against India while Lehmann undergoes treatment.

Been impressed with Rashid and Willey and their experience should hold them in good stead for the T20”

Mike and David Hussey are the Captains

Can't think of another major final where brothers have captained the opposing teams ?

I was surprised as well. All, I can think is that they are managing their workload and I haven't convinced myself with that argument !!!

Stars have been put into bat so it will be watching the BB to begin with this morning and hoping for a a Luke Wright/KP show

How does Ravi get a gig as a pundit

Besides being bland and not adding anything inciteful, he looks like he's just got out of bed !
Creased shirt and unbrushed hair ..
