Oh yeah

broad and stokes been a little loose so far

one of the risks of going off last night and coming back this morning with so few runs needed, always the chance the bowlers might not be right on the money first thing

New ball now available

Decisions to be made...

I'd bring Moeen on

yeah broad isn't really a reverse swing expert so not sure this is the best decision in the situation, but was probably the obvious one after his spell last night, and cook is good at doing the obvious

i thought that was going well down legside but might be a bit closer than i first thought

edit : dharmasena gets another one over-turned

not sure we would have reviewed that if we hadn't just got the 2 new reviews and the game being over one way or the other within the next half dozen overs

Wow

Didn't tink that was going to be overturned

Another successful review

Wow, must admit I wouldn't have giving it at first, I think we can safely say that was a big moment.

26th review of the Test......

and ends on an umpires call

that feels a little bit un-deserved that we win on an umpires call marginal decision from an umpire thats had one of the worst games i can remember

Don't panic

I agree.

The Umpiring, especially Dharmasena, has been shocking. They may has well just have decisions made by the 3rd umpire whenever there is an appeal.

Without a review system, that would have been a totally different game.

Good win

There still need to be changes made to the team for the next test though

Problem with modern cricket and changes, with the lack of warm-up matches, a new player would inevitably be undercooked.

I'd change Hameed and Ansari, for Ballance and Rashid though, as both of those guys did okay in the warm-ups. Hameed to open and Duckett at 4. Batty's second innings bowling earns him a reprieve.

I would rest/rotate Broad

He will be more needed in India especially with Jimmy not yet ready

Give Finn a run out. He's bowled well in these conditions before

It looks a given that Hameed must play surely

Got up, made breakfast, settled down to our recording and . . .

at least we saw the wickets.

So changes, if any, for next test ?

Personally i would keep it as it is. Tell Gary Ballance it is his last chance. Cannot drop Duckett or Batty after that i don't think.

Anyone else thoughts ?

I've seen the point raised but not seen a definitive answer yet. When it comes to whether the batsman has attempted to play a shot, what role if any does the third umpire have during a review?

i'm just a bit concerned having 5 left handers in the top 7 when we are heading to india and the form ashwin has been in

if ballance plays in the 2nd test here and scores runs he then cant be dropped, now is the right time to do it imo

possibly rest one of the quicks and have another look at ansari

not sure tbh but i would doubt it is a reviewable aspect as its not really something technology can help with as it is purely a matter of opinion

i would expect the convo between the onfield umpire would already establish no shot had been played so the 3rd umpire is just looking at whether it would hit the stumps

Whats Ansari like as a batsmen ? Would he be good enough to replace Woakes

People are chuntering, elsewhere, about the move to SS4 but what could be done ? The NFL game went into overtime, they could hardly shift that could they ?

Can you not watch the live coverage on catch-up instead?
