India look doomed now. They do rely a lot on Kohli, Dhoni, Rahani and Rohit Sharma at the top of the order.

maybe wrote this game off too soon

good little partnership here between patel and mishra to keep things interesting

Yes, their test team is a more impressive unit and they must want to save Ashwin and Jadeja for the England tests as there isn't much rest between them.

I must have missed it at the start of the Bangladesh tour, but is Fiz (? Mustafizur - apologies if misspelled) injured? He would add a lot to their team.

Ah just when things were picking up a stupid run out. NZ fielders are too good to take chances like that.

Thanks. It's a shame for him after he made such a breakthrough. I hope the surgery improves his long term outlook rather than being the start of a long run of problems like it sometimes can be be

Very much a Sky "B" team methinks.

Anyone fancy theBangladesh trip? Knight, Cork & Key put their hands up. Cork (hopeless) never turns down work, Key is improving, Knight is hopeless - just shut up Nick, please

Somewhat surprised the vibes are that Hameed wont play

Wouldn't be my way of going

i know that botham and gower probably wouldn't fancy a trip to bangladesh but at some point there will have to be a change, bumble is getting on a bit as well

knight and cork are a bit hopeless but key seems to be someone they are pushing

Wasn't Cork there anyway for the host broadcaster? Therefore it makes sense for Sky to use him as opposed to sending an additional man out there.

You cannot be serious. Morgan and Hales refused to tour Bangladesh

i think i am aware of that but what does morgan have to do with hales decision not to go to bangladesh meaning he has lost his spot in the india test squad ?

I am not optimistic about Ansari. His first class stats for batting and bowling are not impressive.

Both refused to go to Bangladesh. Neither should have been picked for India, One days or tests

oops, so much talk of 7 tests in a row i completely forgot about ODI's and Hales decent level of performance in that format.

i'll keep this simple for you

hales decision to not go to bangladesh has cost him his place in the test side

morgan was not in the test side so his decision to not go to bangladesh is irrelevant to hales's situation as he had no place in the test side to lose

i am starting to remember why i stopped engaging with you in the past ...

Rob Key does seem to be quite well liked, which is good, and Knight and Cork not so, which is also good because i'd rather not see either of those two regularly on sky's test commentary team.

Botham, Gower & Bumble were never going to go on a tour that involves spending virtually the whole time either at a cricket ground or holed up in the hotel under armed guard. And i don't blame them. I was pleasantly surprised to see Athers out there

Commentary details

Dominic Cork wasn't working for Sky, he was working for the host broadcaster. Bumble tweeted that Botham, Nasser and Athers are going to India.

Actually quite surprised how low key the odi series has been.
2nd or 3rd string side, think only 2 or 3 players expected to play in test.
not much media hype or public interest in India either for the series.
Feels very odd for India to concentrate purely on Test cricket for a long period of time.

The england vs india odi series will probably be the same considering only 3 odi games are played and then 3 t20 games.
Saying that India looks a bit under cooked before the Champions trophy they probably not going to have played with their best 11 before the champions trophy.

almost feels like we are in a parallel universe

india focussing on tests more than ODIs, england getting good at ODIs and india about to use DRS in a test series

yeah feels very odd, had to chuckle 2 month ago when most pundits in india forgot about the 7 odi and 3 t20 and just focused on the 13 Test matches.
certainly the first time I seen players getting rested for a strong odi team.

Yeah cork was getting called Mr Bangladesh because he the main presenter for Gazi tv and Rob Key and Nick knight were joking saying he got the job because he was sending emails every day till he got the job.

i'm assuming they will be using the CH9 feed but not sure who they will have doing the studio bit
