Think only 4 players will remain from the 2nd test squad to the possible 3rd test team.
Lyon, Voges, Mennie, Nevill all dropped

The first casualty Down-Under...

Australia's selection chairman Rod Marsh has become the first notable figure to quit amidst the plummeting fortunes of the national team, forcing an extraordinary board meeting later on Wednesday to decide on his replacement.

Just what is going on with the Aussies?

They appear to be in a huge slump at the moment, their confidence must be shot to pieces.
Are they stuck in one-day mode and haven't the ability/confidence to build long innings? Haven't seen any of the coverage, so obviously just guessing.

there is definitely an element of bad decision making and looking like they dont know when to leave, when to defend and when to attack

not sure whether its about being stuck in one-day mode or whether they just dont know any better

The Guardian reports that Woakes has a minor knee problem. That clearly makes it more likely that Anderson will play.

Cook calls wrong and Kohli opts to bat

Jimmy back for England with an early wicket with Broad getting Rahul for 0 as well

45/2 after an hour with the pitch scuffing up already

Opening spread on India runs was 347-362

Another odd decision by the Aussies

Players around the country are shaking their heads at the appointment of Greg Chappell as an interim selector, five years after the Argus review removed him from the same position. They have a right to do so.

While it is understandable that Cricket Australia's board of directors found an internal candidate for this interim role, Chappell's decidedly mixed history with domestic cricket in particular makes it at best a curious call, at worst a further indication all is not well among the decision-makers at the top of the game down under.

Adam Voges has been concussed after being hit in the head. Won't be taking part any further in the Sheffield Shield match in Perth.

Indeed. And just after the messy Hughes inquest wrapped up. Not a good look. Even if it's just for a once over, take him to hospital.

Very odd choice since he a very stubborn guy and likely to cause issues in the team harmony to get the team he wants.
had a very poor time in india during a time where india should have been very successful since he wanted to make so many changes and literally control everything in the team.

Kohli and Pujara making it look easy

34 overs since a maiden as England struggle to tighten things up until an unexpected entry from a dog signals an early tea !!

Pitch starting to misbehave already. Say one after tea and the bounce is variable.

Finally Hussain makes the point I been making for a while, how come indian players are ok with the workload but it is a pain for English or Aussie players.
Not sure why Aussie players are even discussed since they have it so much easier compared to india and England.
although front line bowlers been rested from the ODI for India.

England and cook missed a few chances in the last half hour. 4 or 5 down and it would still be game on for England. Its what makes test cricket so interesting these fleeting glimpses of what could be and sadly for cook he didn't see them.

Sky Sports.

I would have played Woakes instead of Ansari.

Jim said he is hoping to be working on the odi series

faf in trouble :

South Africa's stand-in captain, could be suspended for a Test match after being charged by the ICC over an alleged ball-tampering offence.

Du Plessis has pleaded not guilty and is seeking legal advice to further contest the charge. A hearing before match referee Andy Pycroft will be held, but a date for the hearing has not yet been set by the ICC.

The ICC confirmed in a statement on Friday that du Plessis had been charged for breaching Article 2.2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to "changing the condition of the ball".

The ICC statement said: "The alleged incident happened on Tuesday morning when TV footage appeared to show du Plessis applying saliva and residue from a mint or sweet, an artificial substance, to the ball in an attempt to change its condition."
