Looks like Jennings will be making his debut on Thursday

Didn't realise that he had opened the innings alongside Quinton de Koch for South Africa's U-19's ( against England) :

Had he stayed in South Africa, however, Jennings might well be a seasoned international cricketer already. He captained the U19 team (in 2011, he opened the batting with Quinton de Kock in an U19 ODI against England) and, of course, he was steeped in cricket in the family home.

He talks of his father often (though he refers to him as "coach") and with a softness that belies the hard-man reputation Ray Jennings may have cultivated. And while there were clearly times the younger Jennings was taught some pretty tough lessons, there is little doubt it was wrapped up in the benevolence of a loving father.

I think this is a good idea. I think there have been occasions when things needed reining in and the threat of being sent off will hopefully prevent this happening too often.

I'm also happy with the ball not becoming dead if it strikes a fielder's helmet, although I'm less happy with that including getting stuck in the grill. Mind you, even as I write that, I suppose it's true for other bits of clothing, so maybe why not....?

I am against 4 day test matches. What if you lose a complete day ? .

In league cricket , you do not get sent off but you are banned from the next 2 games( at least) even for minor offences...If the umpire reports you. Most bottle it.

The majority of Umpires do not want the cards.

England won the toss and elected to bat

Broad , Shami and Rahane are unfit

Jennings in for Hameed
Ball in for Batty

Bhuv Kumar in for Shami
K Rahul in for Rahane

Excellent first session for England

117/1 at lunch. Looks like we've found another opening bat with Keaton Jennings on 65*

Dropped on 0 as well as surviving a lbw review (umpires call) when on 13

Hameed has had his operation and a plate inserted in his hand and come back out to India to watch the Test

Jennings looking good

Should hopefully enable Root to move back to 4 when Hameed is fit to resume at the top of the order with Jennings at 3

The Indian commentator doing his absolute best to put the hoodoo on Jennings.

Well done to Keaton Jennings with a 100 on debut

Gets there with a reverse sweep for 4

Guessing that's the first time that's happened

How did KP get his first century?? As that would be a shot I associate with himp!

Still great news for Jennings and for England, shame that it is just a little bit too late, in terms of this series.

It is one thing doing it in a dead rubber match, another in a match that is important, hopefully he can do it in an important game.

It's not a dead rubber. Series can be drawn.

230-2 becomes 230-4 in the space of 3 balls

2 batsman at the crease who haven't faced a ball yet !

Another poor shot and another wicket

England in danger of not capitalising on a good start again

When did TMS become so bad to listen too? It's just 8 hours of Boycott criticising everything and everyone

I dont listen as much anymore as he talks too much about himself and Aggers has become a bit too much about the 'banter'

As with most things we are just too used to it now.

There was a time when TMS banter and Blofield droning on in his stupid put on posh accent about pigeons and sea gulls in the field and a few cranes flying in formation was.......poetic and beautiful.

Now it is shut up you idiot we have heard this same thing a thousand times.

Maybe newer listeners may fall for the banter and hype...but i doubt it. They dont listen to TMS.

Listening to Keaton Jennings being interviewed, I though it was AB deVilliers - sounds just the same

I'm not sure how 'put on' Blofeld's accent is, given that he comes from a wealthy family and attended Eton and Cambridge.

He's been a parody of himself for some time now. And Vaughan appears to be trying to succeed him as the resident Professional Yorkshireman.
