The umpire being put under incredible pressure

Bairstow given out again when the ball was a mile away from his bat

Good job we had a review left

Over 360 runs scored today ...on a Bunsen....

2nd highest total on a 4th day pitch in India

Poor time management from Bairstow and Ball

Should of been 'time-wasting' in the last scheduled over of the day instead of allowing an extra over to be bowled in which Ball is out

Excellent day's Test cricket

I feel like Cook is gonna step down after this series as captain 4 years is a long and exhausting time, time for Root too step up with Buttler/Stokes as his vice captain

I'd rather leave Root to his batting - and that's not saying he isn't capable or anything. But if it's not Root, stuck for an answer as to who it would be. Could Broad do the job?

Positive thought

There are approx 135 overs left. Score at 4 an over for 100 overs giving us 400 and a lead of 170 . Then bowl out India in 35 overs as they go for a mad run chase

or maybe I'm still inebriated.......
But 171 in 35 overs would not be a mad chase

Cook's tour has not been his best with some poor shots and average at best Captaincy

Lack of preparation perhaps
Average is not a word in assessing a captain.

Good job Bairstow reviewed as the umpire missed the overstepping
They usually do

Some shocking decisions by the umpires today - Thank god for DRS
They have been poor for ages

I'll be very surprised if Cook steps down as captain following this tour but I would suggest he shouldn't leave it too long. We'll see what happens.

The balance of the attack was clearly wrong for this Test. India might well have won anyway but England could have done better. In fact, the spin department has been badly handled all the way through. The wrong bowlers were selected in the first place and the wrong bowler was called up. Mind you, having brought in Dawson I think they might as well have played him.

The screaming and shouting that Indians engage in to get a wicket is a cultural thing. At every level of the game, including lower leagues, street cricket etc, it is the same. Scream your head off to get a decision.

when you have to scream your head off to be heard above the din of constant beeping from the vehicles in a street game then you can see the issue in a different light. A casual hows that and the umpire wont even have heard it.

Bruce Oxenford just caved in too the Indian appealing too many times, Erasmus on the other other hand was cool and calm
The Bairstow one (saved by the no ball) was a horrendous decision

All over in half an hour

Excellent from India but dismal from England

Ashwin's last 26 balls yielded 5 wickets for 6 runs..

First innings 400 runs but losing by an innings!
That must be a rarity in Test cricket.

This tour cannot end too quickly from an English point of view, we look totally done and dusted.

Cook saying he feels like Joe Root is ready for the captaincy is pretty much confirming too me he's gonna step down from the role
He looks shot and the whole team look ready for home
Thankfully for us the white ball lads are young and energetic so the ODI's should at least be more competitive

My team for the first test of the English summer (injuries permitting) would be
Hameed
Cook
Jennings
Root (c)
Bairstow (wk)
Buttler
Stokes
Rashid
Broad
Ball
Anderson

Woakes has had a terrible winter needs to go back to Warwickshire and get his confidence back in the early summer

Good choice but I would be keen to play Woakes in England in stead of Ball

What about Roy and Billings ? Only last week you were chastising the selectors for not picking them. You also said they were afraid to try anything new yet you go for a very similar side.

I don't know what Hameed has done to deserve getting dropped.
