that wouldn't even be in the top ten of bad decisions he has made in this test

They are putting our score into some perspective here, just not good enough with the bat or in the field today, both times we have failed.

Well done to Nair on his 300, though I thought India should have declared sooner. Mind you, England will probably collapse anyway!

Batting average of 8.5 goes out and smashes 303*
Fair play too him he batted well, I reckon England all out for 200 here

Wow, that was impressive from India

Still think we will salvage a draw tomorrow though

Bayliss leaving the tour tonight so that he can have a hernia op before Christmas so that he will be be fit for the ODI's

Not sure what is most painful for him - Watching the England bowlers toil or the thought of a hernia op..!

yeah coz it obviously makes sense to judge him on a sample size of 2 innings rather than his first class average of 51 ...

India showing that they are better than us at the moment in all departments

No disgrace in that

This is worrying

The England management have been left concerned and unimpressed after the security plans for their stay in Chennai were found on a public computer.

The plans, which included the details of which hotel rooms the players were in and how many staff were on guard on each floor, were found by an England supporter saved on the desktop of a publicly accessible computer in the lobby of a different hotel. It also contained details about the plain-clothes officers on duty and the location of officers on nearby rooftops overseeing the surrounding area.

The document, named 'Bandobust', was a Chennai Police Operational Order addressed to the Joint Assistant Commissioners of Chennai Police. It was not password protected.

An employee at the hotel, informed about the document, suggested local police regularly took advantage of the computer at the hotel.

Think you missing the point of the stat or post.
Still incredible for a guy struggling to bat in his 2 innings and basically batting for his spot in the squad let alone the team to score 300 is quite incredible makes it more incredible that his average goes from 8 to 160 in one innings.
Might give maddision some hope for the next game.

one person not enjoying that knock would be Rahane, Rohit sharma and maybe Jayant Yadav.
pretty hard getting Rahane, Rohit sharma etc in the team if india plays 5 bowlers still.
Jayant would probably get in the team and replace Mishra hard to see the other two getting in with Nair scoring 300.
Dhawan out of the reckoning for the squad as well with Parthiv likely to be the reserve opener with Kl Rahul/Vijay first choice openers.

the point of the post i replied to from that poster was to somehow make out that the guy england let score 300 was some dud who only had an average of 8.5

when an average after just 2 tests is completely irrelevant and his first class average suggests he is actually a pretty good player

but if you want to think his test average of 8.5 was an accurate reflection of his ability then go ahead ...

Not sure he was making that point if anything he was praising the batsman.

We've had players dropping for failing after 2 innings before!

Impressive though - going to be under pressure to maintain that sort of form though!

Didn't see that large total coming

Most runs scored against England - ever !

Loads of records broken

Hope the Captain can score a ton tomorrow . Be good to have done something positive before he announces that he's stepping down

Well done icewarrior. Not a teenage keyboardist....

I have found out an interesting stat today

Ravinda Jadeja has a better record in India than the two Greatest spinners of all time in Murali and Shane Warne

They say that the pace that Jadrja bowls is a lot faster than those two. And will get more wickets as the Indian pitches suit spinners who dont bowl at a slower pace

England do not have spinners who bowl with pace and that is the reason we are struggling. People say that Jack Leach should have been picked because he is a spinner who can bowl fast. Just like when England picked Swann and Panesar the last time we toured India as those two were quality spinners who bowled with pace

It is well known that Warne and Murali never did well in India.

England off to a good start but they will need to get a move on if they are going to declare at tea.

Jadeja gets Cook again- still work to do

Interesting chat on tms at lunchtime where it was said that the reason that Jack Leach wasn't called up is that there are concerns about his action

and now Jadeja gets Jennings as well

110/2 with 2 new batsmen at the crease
