The stadium announcer at the 1st ODI betweenNew Zealand and Pakistan has been reprimanded after playing a sound effect of a cash register as Mohammad Amir was about to bowl

They'd need a whole Supermarket checkout for Chris Cairns....(alledgedly)

World U19 World Cup (50 overs) is underway in Bangladesh

England have won their opening game overnight by 299 runs against Fiji.......

The hosts are playing SA on Sky Sports2 at the moment and look on course for victory with SA 5 down and needing about 120 off 15 overs

Bangladesh win !

SA all out 43 runs short

Tomorrow's televised game is India v Ireland starting at about 3AM...........Ireland were invited to the tournament after Australia pulled out for security concerns

Scotland are in it as well.........in the same group as Bangladesh and SA

Under 19 world cup is always a good watch because of how close and competitive the competition is.
All the groups are tight.
Group A is basically between Scotland and South Africa for the 2nd spot and Scotland should be the favourites got a better team.
Group B is crazy Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri lanka are all good enough to win the competition or go far only 2 qualify.
Group C should be England and West indies qualifying easily,
Group D was a group of death but Australia pulled out so India and NZ should qualify easily.

Bookies have India massive favourites basically evens.
Bangladesh are my dark horses.
the fact is can only see India/Bangladesh or pakistan winning this the rest of the team don't have the depth to trouble them,
England are lucky they don't have Afghanistan or a strong 3rd team and a sub C team being the 2nd team.
if they were in group B they would struggle to come out of the group.

They should change the seeding process and the qualification aspect of it.
the top 10 from the last competition should qualify automatically instead of the 10 full members.
the seeding for this tournament was mucked up because of Afghanistan finishing in the top 8 last time and then being unseeded for this competition.

the seeds this year were.

South Africa
Pakistan
England
Australia

India
West indies
Should have been Afghanistan but got demoted to 3rd seeds
Sri lanka
Bangladesh got promoted because of Afghanistan being an associate

New Zealand
Zimbabwe
Afghanistan
Qualifier 1

last seeds are all qualifiers.

Not looking quite so easy for NZ now !

Nepal 238 for 7.............NZ 154/6 in the 42nd over

NZ need about 10 an over

India winning comfortably, Pakistan beat Afghanistan easily

that a massive shock now.
Nepal are improving loads now.
Cricket in Asia is very strong right now in the associate level.

It's very difficult to get a test team out of individual countries; probably next on the list is Ireland....but there is at least Zimbabwe who IMO shouldn't really be considered a test team, although there are improvements since the recent, er, difficulties.
I would like to see groups of countries amalgamate to form a Test team as the Windies do.
Ireland/Scotland/Holland combined could give most Test nations a game, Zimbabwe/Kenya and the rest of Africa (less SA) could possibly provide a team, and then there's the middle and far east (Afghanistan, Nepal, Hong Kong etc etc) that also may be good enough to provide a team.
Possibly this is where a second division could come in, those + Bangladesh and the best go on to play the more established nations. Would Windies end up in the second division??
On writing all that there's the added problem of Test cricket losing it's appeal as the 20/20 grows
The countries could still keep their individual identity for 20/20 and ODI's of course.

Think this will be a big loss to Surrey as Graham Ford has left

He is set to begin his second stint as Sri Lanka's new head coach after Surrey announced he was leaving the county to take up the position. He is understood to have signed on until the end of the 2019 World Cup, and is expected to begin work with Sri Lanka in the coming weeks - possibly even in early February.

Looks like england under 19 should win today and confirm passage to the quarter finals.

WI bowled out 61 runs short

England have got a 'leggy', Mason Crane, Hampshire, who can turn it and get bounce and bowl a googly !

look promising..........although obviously English spinners usually fall by the wayside

Ford has done really well for us especially in developing the Currans

Looks like we're trying to tempt Paul Farbrace away from England....

India and Nepal qualify for the quarter finals.
Sri lanka are also through by beating Afghanistan by 33 runs.
Pakistan also beat Canada to get into the quarter finals.

pakistan set a decent total here of 290 but have really blown a great position

they reached 200 before the end of the 30th over and were looking at maybe getting to around 350 but have collapsed bigtime losing their last 7 wickets for just 70 odd runs and not batting out all 50 overs

NZ win after the rain intervened

New Zealand did very similar to Pakistan by having a big partnership followed by a clutch of wickets
Might have been different had Billy Bowden not been the only one in the ground to hear an edge by Corey Anderson

The Black Caps are looking in good shape for the visit of the Aussies

Should be a good series

Bloody hell picked the wrong team in Group A.
South Africa struggling against Namibia.
Namibia need 86 runs with 6 wicket remaining to qualify for the quarter finals.

Always knew South Africa were gonna struggle they didn't even pick their best squad.
Thought Scotland would be the ones pushing close not Namibia.

Also, England going well

Have to agree with the comms though over the rules

Zimbabwe bowled their overs really quickly and then had to bat for 5 overs before the scheduled lunch interval. This meant that ,in effect, they had to start their innings twice.

Seems unfair

Shane Watson has just got his 1st International T20 hundred opening the innings and Captaining

India so far romping away with it in their run chase. The ones to watch perhaps for T20 and as I say that a wicket

India looking very impressive in the T20 and with home advantage must be favourites for the World Cup..
