we can disagree about who from the top 7 should drop out but doesn't change the fact that we are a "proper" batsman short in ODIs atm and we can't afford to have a middle order where we have so many guys that are only averaging around 25 deliveries per innings

pretty decent score for us in the t20 warmup against an ok looking SA A team
nice to see morgan get his eye in with 40odd off just 13 balls |

Good all-round England performance there, I think it's really good that South Africa play decent sides in warm-ups, it's not just good for the touring side, it's good for the fringe Saffy players to push for places. That's how all countries used to do it.
I do think Rashid is by far our best T20 spin bowler btw. Variety of deliveries is all-important in this game. |

easy win in the warmup
i think the scorecard was bugged tho as it showed jordan as being the most economical bowler |

CJ isn't a bad t20 player, it's the other forms he should be kept away from.
i think jordan's biggest issue is he needs to be playing regularly or that clunky run-up of his means he loses his rhythm |

When i saw SA-A had scored at 8 an over i scrolled down the Eng bowlers only to be confused at Jordan only going for 24 runs! He's one of those talented cricketers i really want to do well for Eng but sadly i don't ever see it happening. Too inconsistent, in that 2 or 3 balls an over don't go where he intends them to or where they should do.

This has been shocking, really poor. Need another Bat, and no in T20 i Don't mind if it's for Moeen, Vince and Root can fiddle through some overs.

No one watching the T20 ?
Doesn't look like England are going to put up much of a target batting first.....81-6 in the 13th Tahir got 4 wickets Morgan flops again........he does have a habit of going for long periods without contributing anything then he'll get 100 as he's on the verge of being dropped |

We were about 50/2 when I got in from work
By the time I'd made a coffee and got sat down , Jordan was on his way to the crease |

two things from watching this
how poor we look against spin still doesn't really inspire confidence for the world t20 considering where its being held this top 7 is the same as the top 7 in our ODI side and reinforces my opinion that we are a batsman light in the ODI side if they are struggling to even bat through a t20 innings |

Only bright spot is that Buttler is still there.........if he tees off he could get a lot of runs quickly, providing the other see out the overs

Someone pointed out on another forum we've actually won our last 7 t20 matches playing this way, so perhaps we shouldn't over-react.

i just said it doesn't inspire confidence when we struggle against spin in the middle overs considering the volume of spin we will be facing at the t20 WC i am more concerned that we seem to continually make basic mistakes if the guy at the other end has just got out dont play an extravagant shot and throw your wicket away meaning we have 2 new batsmen at the crease, when i mentioned a few weeks back about KP making this point when mic'd up dring the BBL i got flamed for it and told any club cricketer knows to do that. well a few in this team dont seem to know to do that. when you have a guy like buttler at the other end why are your low order not just trying to get him as much strike as possible rather than wafting at deliveries themselves ? this is a young team and i am happy to see them play positive cricket but they need learn from mistakes and not just keep repeating them |

I agree the mindset does need adjusting, but it's infinitely better than the one e had. We've over-adjusted unfortunately. It is remarkable how poor Ben Stokes record is in Limited Overs for England, we're basically picking him on great Test performances, which I never like doing for limited overs. |

Probably around 50 runs short. SA should win inside 16 overs.
