12 is too many since pace men get hit more in T20 games.
looks at sri lanka innings pace men bowled 5 overs in a row and it cost sri lanka lots of runs.
england need about 10 overs of spin very important if they need to defend a low or par total.

Getting a poor sri lanka team out doesn't change anything especially if england are playing NZ at the same ground in the semis.
if NZ can pick 3 spinners no reason why England can't either.
I refer you to my previous post.

NB.....start the car.

and another wicket

This is going well

(all to the seamers as well Bhav...)
Knew this was going to happen when england got 171.

Sri lanka have no confidence with the bat these days been shocking for the past 15 games.
Bangladesh have been unlucky to be placed in a group of death.

not really the greatest argument however bhav if your seamers just aren't as good as your spinners

but can you actually see Stokes, Jordan etc keeping things tight when england are defending a low total in these pitches.
If dawson is not good enough to bowl in these conditions selectors need to get sacked for picking Jordan, not picking Perry.

I see the point you're getting at but this Sri Lanka side have a history of capitulating against pace so the make up of the side is correct for today's opponents

However, against NZ, I think there may be a change of emphasis

not sure what you mean by "these pitches" there has been almost zero spin today and the pitch doesn't look that slow either

as i have said i wouldn't even have jordan in the squad but our only alternative is a spinner who has never bowled a ball in international cricket so not sure how confident i would be throwing him into this situation either

TBH it only worked today because England got 170.
if england got 150 it would be interesting to see how Sri Lanka go against the pace men.

No idea what dilshan, chandimal and thiramane were doing they are experienced men should have cope with england pace considering none of them are actually rapid.

Can't agree with that. Sri Lanka regularly come up short against the quicker stuff

R/R creeping up towards 2 a ball

sri lanka have to just go for it quite soon

no point going out of the tournament without giving it a go

Not sure Sri lanka would gift or attack the pace men like they did today if England posted a par total, they would sat on england and waited for the bad balls.
Dilshan, Mathews and Chandimal can handle the pace.

Maybe the Dilshan of 2/3 years ago. He tends to struggle now against the quicker stuff

The way they're going after Rashid, we should have another seamer........

Need to get Rashid off, why they have given him another over straight away after his first appalling over?

lol it had to happen after I spend a hour arguing for more spinners.
I Still need Sri lanka to get 160 otherwise I lose 16 pounds for going out for 3 hours and wasting 20 pounds on bangladesh.
If england win and sri lanka get more than 157 or something I lose only 6 pounds today.

Think Mathews just killed my entire argument today.
3 sixes in the over.

Win predictor has England 67% to win but Sri Lanka look like the favourites right now.

if Mathews get out england should win this.
Perara can still take the game away from england in this postage ground.
