If the seamers had only gone for 8 or 9 instead of 21 then we would have had an extra dozen runs to play with later on, and that's without the complete change of momentum Rashid's awful over caused in the match

Superb figures from all 4 seamers no one going over 7's

Thank goodness for that.
Vandersay must be the worst batsman in the world not to let him have the strike.

So do we go with no spinners in the next match.

Would be revolutionary.

Woo hoo, can't believe they almost threw it away from 15-4! 63 off 4 overs of spin the exact opposite of what we've seen through most of this tournament.

Need to be a million times better to compete with NZ but fantastic to have made the semis.

I would not describe it as an awful over. I would describe it as excellent batting.

i'll probably live to regret saying this but if you gave me a choice between playing NZ in the semi or the winner of the australia-india game, i am more than happy to be playing NZ

But the spinners still had to bowl. Seamers can only bowl 4 each. Better to not have Ali and Rashid at the death when anything can happen

I cant believe Sri Lanka who are reigning World Champions and South Africa are out and either one of two from Australia or India will be out as well

Sri lanka might be reigning champions but they are terrible one reason why their were 22/1 at the start of the competition.

Australia and India are in a group of death, Bangladesh are better than Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Saying that if India get knocked out would be the 2nd time in a ICC event in india where no Asian team made the semis the first one being 2006 Champions trophy.

Though at that moment Mathews was coming to terms with his injury. Putting the squeeze on at that point and pushing for them to take singles may well have resulted in a mistake from him. As it is it looked like we let them off the hook.

Of course, if Mathews had swung and connected...

I do, on the grounds that they have to come off the rails somewhere! Think it will be another very even contest, but only if they can't get off to a flyer.
Trouble is, I rate their spinners better than ours, the rest of the teams are pretty equal.
Would anyone mess about with the order and shove Buttler or Stokes up top?

I found their tactics puzzling at the end. Even the world's worst batsman can snick a four or even grab a couple of leg byes; it's hard to set a field to someone who doesn't know what he's doing. If there were three balls left and 8 wanted, then OK don't run if there's only a single and let the batsman have a go at the last two....but more than an over to go? Hmmm.

Wonder what kind of crowd/audience Monday's final group game will attract

Not often you see South Africa and Sri Lanka in a dead rubber

Ain't that the problem for all competitions, including the Davis Cup which is arguably the biggest culprit of all, if you have groups you do get dead games.

If there's nothing on it at all I'd scrap and give ticket-holders their money back. Of course, if it was England in a dead game many fans would have booked flights/hotels already in the hope it matters, and they wouldn't see a game at all.

Dammed if you do/don't. And if games were knock-out right from the start then some teams would only get one game, unless there was some kind of complicated losers-ply-losers and the winner goes through system.

What can be done? If there was seeding (was there??) I suppose you could guarantee the winners of dead games a higher seeding than the losers next time, but I think that's all you can do in reality.

Think ICC starting to give free tickets or cheap tickets now for the games.
ICC ticketing prices for these are a joke especially since 2007 all ICC events have been dead cheap to get crowds in after the shambolic 2007 world cup.

2015 world cup prices around 20-30 pounds final 50 pounds.
2013 champions trophy 20 pounds adults.
2016 t20 world cup 80-100 pounds india games. 60 pounds for other games and I think 30-40 pounds were the cheapest tickets available.

In which world did they think non india games will sell out with those prices.

It's a great opportunity to get the kids in for free. Is it a holiday over there like here, if so that option's staring them in the face.

I think not. Or would you have liked Ali to bowl the 20th over. Or a non-bowling batsman to bowl an over of seam up?

Well done England

We may not be the best but we're certainly the most fun to watch whether we are winning or losing

Please expand. We have probably the worst bowling attack in the whole competition (apart from Bangl) so i'm not entirely sure what more in the field Morgan could have done? The old adage about you cant polish a turd
