Chatted about this in broadcasting. The coverage. Sky, as usual, have done us proud with plenty of coverage and good pundits. As if the final al should be on FTA just to please those who don't like paying. None of us want to pay but we live in the real world. TV is for everyone, not just me

Anyway - commentators.

For me

Very good - Ian Bishop, Shaun Pollock, Bumble, Nasser
Good - Rameez Raja, Sunil Gavaskar, Brendan Julian, Scott Styris, Sanjay Manjrekar
Tolerable - Russell Arnold, Michael Slater, Nick Knight, Pommi Mbangwe, Allan Wilkins

Don't think anybody I particularly dislike.

Coverage has been good...minor grumbles like the over-use of flashbacks during overs (confusing my old man...) but the best for me was covering the early tournament and the qualifiers from Ireland/Scotland; thoroughly impressed with that and the whole thing's been well worth the sub, although it would be interesting to see how many countries get it for free....but you have missed out the best commentator, Lancashire's Pakistani God (Wasim Akram).

OK, I'm biased

Just saw Virat Kohli's stats when batting 2nd . Crazy !!

Average of 91.8 which is nearly than 40 ahead of the 2nd (Mike Hussey)

Makes you think why would I bat on winning the toss playing India...?

Not really sure what point the article is trying to make.

way i read it there seemed to be a school of thought that he was particularly biased against bangladesh in his commentaries and it involved quite a wide cross-section of bangladeshi fans and in a semi-organised way

Bit of a ramble isn't it? Think the main point was the new commentators these days seem to be players picked because they were names rather than their ability to commentate?

At least in England thanks to every county game being commentated on, you have a selecton of young, and not-so-young commentators getting a good footing, and it's good on see one of them, Cally getting a gig with 5 Live at the W20. Doubt whether any of them will end up as a Sky TV commentator - I'd like to think they will.

My personal fave is the guy who does Surrey and Middlesex and I can't recall his name. Anyone??

It looks to me to be based on Ramiz saying "I can't speak your language.". Ridiculous over reaction and judging by the fact one 300 people signed the petition, shows many thought it silly too. I like Ramiz, talks a bit but he's a very good commentator

Basically in the Asia cup and in the recent Home games.
Rameez Raja said same words that bangladesh fans got offended by.

During the last 18 months because of the far better Bangladeshi players the fans have become very expectant that the team would win and have essentially written or produced pieces that attacks the other team when Bangladesh wins games.
loads of pictures of Mustafizur or Taskin beheading Dhoni and Kohli etc.

They even expected bangladesh to push for a semi final for the T20.

I heard some on 5live sports extra last summer., I like their knowledge and the fact that they aren't trying to be witty and pandering all the time. Couldn't name you any names though!

He averages 60 or 70 in ODI chases as well.
Averages over 100 in both formats in successful chases although that misleading stat considering if India wins Kohli will score hundreds or loads of not out scores.

Interesting piece on South Africa's disappointing tournament by Firdose Moonda on Cricinfo

Agree re the uncertainty of ABV's batting position after stating unequivocally that he would be opening
