They got a perfect attack for the conditions, only weak link is Milne.
Sodhi and Santner tough to score runs and attacking options.
McClenghan/Anderson bowls good cutters and slower ball as well.

Suspect Elliot and Wiliamson will bowl some overs so Milne doesn't bowl full 4 overs.

Root key batsman here for England, pitch looks two paced so need someone that is good at finding gaps, getting singles especially at the last 10 overs where batting get difficult.
important england doesn't let rate reach 10.
No way can any team get 100 from 10 overs here.
if the women can't get 8 run per over here, mens will struggle with 10 here.

England need to make the first 10 count here.

Agree with you apart from using the women as a benchmark ... They were terrible!

as was discussed earlier the women struggle to clear the field so unless they do well finding gaps its hard to hit boundaries

guys like buttler and stokes dont have that problem

hoping Sodhi has a bad day and england put pressure on Mcclengan that guy is fragile.
He kind of reminds me of Dernbach.

true these days players can biff boundaries at will still think getting 100 from last 10 will be tricky.
Seeing the way NZ struggled at the last 10 reminded me of the NZ vs Australia game and to a lesser extent Australia innings against india at mohali.
Australia big hitters struggled to chase around 100 or less than 100 in the last 10.

Great start from Roy, always best to get the runs when the ball is hard.

i know NZ have wanted to stay loyal to guys like milne and mcclenaghan but still find it a little strange that they cant find a spot for either southee or boult in their best XI

yep he is really quick, sadly he got a fragile body.
Henry is the other quick bowler but again got a fragile body.

Can understand McClenaghan he probably the best seam option in india.
Milne probably been picked on pace and potential, probably the most talented bowler NZ got since Bond.

The only reason I can think of boult and Southee getting dropped is because NZ don't pick players on name.
in the past 4-5 months both have been terrible, both been slower, Boult in particular looks lost when he can not get the ball to move, both have no plans B in good batting decks.
Southee is probably tired for carrying the attack in the twin series against Australia.

Boult even struggled in good bowling conditions against Australia in NZ.

maybe so but just 12 months ago boult was close to unplayable in the 50 over world cup

Openers have killed the game now.
No way can NZ choke england here at the middle and death overs.

before we started i would have taken 50 for no loss in the powerplay and we have all but got there with 2 overs left

been saying for i dont know how long if you put pressure on the bowlers, they bowl bad balls and you get free runs

Personally think that is a good thing, Far too many teams play players far too long especially when they need rest or need a medical check up or just need a drop to regain form again.
Players should really be picked on what they do in nets and not what they did 12 or 18 months ago.
