Russell spent a season in our local league a few seasons ago and made a big impact.
In one game I umpired we nearly ran out of balls. He didn't run many singles. He was a nice chap as well.
Maybe that could be brought into 20/20...you can hit as many sixes as you like but you have to go and fetch them!
Reminders of me and two mates @ school playing on the park. That was the rule for 4's and 6's!!

From many years ago I remember the phrase 'Six and Out'........but I can't remember how that worked !

India really threw that game away with 2 no balls on wickets!

West Indies really impressive bearing in mind Gayle went early.
The pressure was on the West Indies but no excuse to the spinner for his no balls. At this level he had to do better than that. So given the number of get out of jail cards they had the West Indies still did well with the partisan crowd against them to get past the Indian score and into the final.

If India had of won, we'd be focusing on the double run-out miss of Kohli when he had just come in.
How did the windies miss the wicket

Both sides made unlikely mistakes

Great atmosphere and the mistakes made in it plus some classy batting made it a memorable semi final. I think very gradually this T20 version of cricket has grown on me and its not only because England have made the final this weekend.

Exactly, missing the stumps twice (especially Bravo from point blank range) was a huge mistake when you look at what Kohli went on to do. Also West Indies fielding in general was very sloppy and they let India turn an awful lot of ones into twos.

Enjoyed Dhoni's press conference when he got the journalist up to question him about retiring
He seemed very relaxed for someone who had lost a semi final
Wasn't relaxed in the press conference after the bangladesh game.
He lost it after a straightforward question.

Time to put up our predictions for the final:

I think we'll win the toss as Sammy/WI have won 5 tosses out of 5. We'll put WIndies in and restrict them to 150-160 where they struggle to rotate the strike in the middle overs off spin. Then we'll chase it down, obviously with a few dramas along the way. And we lift the trophy

But if im wrong then im still so happy and proud of how we went in this tournament, especially with us being the only squad in the Super 10s to have just the one bowler with a T20 international econ rate under 8 (Plunkett - who didnt even make the team to begin with).

No logic to my prediction....

If the West Indies women lose to Australia, I think the men will win

If they beat Australia, then the men will lose

I told you there was no logic to my prediction

Eden gardens is a massve ground. Some hits wont turn into sixes. So most of the big hit scoring has to be done in first 6 overs. Gayle does not start well and that is the key.

Eng have to post more than 180 batting first. Then unlike Dhoni, keep all fielders on the ropes and hope they can catch.

Atleast we wont have to put up with politicians and film stars hogging the limelight at the start.

Any reports of England fans making the journey to see the match.

Sammy mentioned that the Windies are 2nd most liked team in India and that is true. Eng will need supporters.

My predictions are

One wide or no ball from Jordan and/or Stokes and this thread will be full of people calling for them to be dropped, deported and shot

Ali or Rashid will go for a few in one over and everyone will question the strategy of the skipper

We will get the guy with the dinosaur name saying how s**t we are, despite the fact we have made the final as massive outsiders before the tournament started

Bhav will post around 6,000 posts during the match and regret 5,000 of them

Somebody will ask why Stuart Broad isn't in the team....again

England will win by 4 wickets.

I have got a feeling West Indies are going to beat us tomorrow as they seem to be the most complete team in the competition and they have so many match winners in their side like Gayle I think if we get out Gayle early we have a great chance of winning So maybe play the spinners at the start because i think Graeme Swann said that is our best chance of getting him out

Ok so heres what happens tomorrow

Eng win toss and bowl. Windies Restricted to less than 160.

Roy fails. Root and Morgan 20s. Hales and buttler take us to 120 by 14th over. Cruising and So close to victory. Then Bravo and Badree destroy Eng. all out with 11-17 runs to go.

Defeat snatched after monumental choke.

Comfortable win for England with Morgan top scoring

West Indies had their 'final' against India

I am telling you this forum is cursed.

Anyway predicting england to win with ease.
WI won't be able to cope with the larger outfield and hopefully slower pitch.

Although the bad omen is that the women are scoring loads if they score around 140-160 then that should mean the par will be around 200 for the mens game.

Hopefully WI batsman struggle to get the singles and twos, they are really terrible at rotating the strike.
Good omen is that WI batsman have a terrible record at Eden garden either at International level or IPL level.

Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't commentate the game.

Mark Slater, Bumble, Hussain, Bishop + Warne and if they add an extra voice it would probably be Manjrekar or Bhogle.

The pitch looks really good for batting in the ladies final, Lanning and Villani timing the ball beautifully, same pitch so not sure who this favours.

No prediction from me, just think it's utterly unpredictable.

Hardly any buildup to this on terrestrial news. Nothing last night on BBC.

Side note. How many Eng teams have made it to the finals of an international competition outside the Olympics. Not many i presume. This news blackout is strange.

If it was football.....
