She's been running cross-country this winter which suggests to me that she is still pursuing the move up to 1500 (4:09.5 PB last year.)

Nice to hear Richard Kilty in the post race interview remember his friend Ali Brownlee who sadly passed away from bowel cancer earlier this week. Ali was a popular local figure on Teesside.

Just checked and she is. Running the 3000, up against Bobby Clay.

Incidentally, Vincosport are providing 'on demand' recordings of the action - http://www.runjumpthrow.com/fixtures...nationals-2016

There was, it's just finished. Have to say that better coverage from BBC. Much less chat a bit more field event coverage and saving a lot of chat for the forum. More like this please

Must have got the wrong end of the stick as I thought it was questions from fans. Or maybe it was and I just didn't realise.

Yes it was good to see a lot more of the field events.

There's another event on Eurosport tomorrow, invitational Pole Vault All Stars from Rennes, France. 18:30. Am presuming Raynaud Lavillenie will be in action.

Morgan Lake finished with 4519 points in her Pentathlon today, putting her 6th in the world indoors this year. Sadly, it's only the top 5 who will receive invites for the World Indoor Championships. Such a shame. Here were her results:

60m hurdles: 8.63 PB
High Jump: 1.93m SB
Shot Put: 12.97m
Long Jump: 5.89m
800M: 2:18:53 PB

It works out that if she had jumped 6.00m or higher in the Long Jump, she would've been in the Top 5 in the world rankings.

Oh, and apparently Morgan Lake also cleared 1.93m during her pentathlon today.
Yes and she clocked a PB of 8.63 in the 60m hurdles too, so off to a good start.
And Morgan finished with another PB in the 800m.

A final total of 4,519pts (8.63-1.93-12.97-5.89-2:18.53) and 6th on the world rankings.

Morgan just short of her PB and also not far off Kluft's World Junior Record whilst winning the U23 event. Good performance in the Junior event by Niamh Emerson setting a PB of 4110 which included a 1.87 High Jump. She's still only 16 (17 in April) so looks like yet another potential future star in the Heptathlon.

Cheers. Saw the choppy video of the heat and she coasted into the final. Hope she transfers her 800 speed and long-distance stamina into 1500 success later in the season.

Whilst I support the idea of para olympic sport there is a clear issue here of Rehm jumping with ordinary athletes. His prosthetic leg looks as though it gives him an enormous amount of spring and therefore does not look fair to me. Thoughts?
I used to think (based on nothing more than common sense) that the idea that saying someone with one leg has an advantage was ridiculous but now it seems like it is similar to putting an athlete in a wheelchair against a runner. When they were debating this issue during the IPC worlds on C4 they said maybe the para 'thing' will be that their athletics are faster, higher etc.

I would think the aim should be to build up para sport so that their stars can earn money, rather than trying to combine two things which are very different (at least within the same race - you could have para events in the Diamond League and still keep the disciplines separate).

First off, it's incredible to know that's she still a junior this season. Her first 1.90m HJ (in the U18 hep) happened almost three years ago now.

It would be good to see her improve her outdoor hep PB this season; she could have beaten Katarina's NJR last year if she maintained her form from the 2015 EICh.

Incidentally, Nafi Thiam and Kendell Williams have scored 4558 / 4635A as juniors, but those marks were not eligible for ratification. That WJR has survived quite a few attacks (for want of a better word) in the last 5 years.

Good to hear. Noticed Kilty was coming back at Safo-Antwi at the end of the race. Has he been working on his race plan so that he has something left to put in a better finish in the 100m? Or may be Safo-Antwi just tied up quickly.

I've no objection to athletes having one prosthetic leg entering able bodied jumping competitions.
To completely ban them would bring a lot of criticism to the authorities.

The solution is simple, just bring in a rule that bans them from using the leg with the prosthetic as, the "take off leg."

Other notable performances in the past few days:
* Dibaba clocked a 8:22.50 WL to win the 3,000m in Sabadell, which historically is bettered only by...surprise surprise, Dibaba herself during that triple-record spree a couple of years ago. She produced her mile WR just a couple of days beforehand!
* Runner-up in the women's 1,500m in Glasgow was Gudaf Tsegay (ETH), whose PB of 4:01.81 is also an indoor WJR.
* Renaud Lavillenie cleared a 6.02m WL at his own meet in Clermont Ferrand yesterday.
Also, of particular note - Ekaterini Stefanidi & Demi Payne with 4.90 PBs in the Pole Vault (Stefanidi's previous PB was 4.77.) A Greek record for Stefanidi?
Yes, both indoors and outright. Also =3rd on the all-time indoor list with Payne.

Well Dick Kilty is on a bit of a charm offensive / show he's a changed his character as he's in the last chance saloon with British Athletics following last years antics.

Talking of Nafi, I see she set a new PB and Belgium National Record of 6.51m in the LJ at the weekend. I think she could turn out to be KJT and Morgan Lake's biggest foe in the years to come.

Surprisingly, that's the first time I've seen that variant of Kilty's name...not that your opinion of him has anything to do with it, right?

----

Notably, all three heptathletes had an off season last year (outdoors, anyway).

All 11 winners of the inaugural World Indoor Tour have been confirmed, of which only one (Nia Ali) is a reigning world indoor champion.

Talking of everyone's favourite northern sprinter. Kilty now seems to be hinting he might not defend his world indoor title in order to prove his ability over the 100 and 200 outdoors.

Normally I would scoff at that (), but he didn't look terrible in the one 200m race I've seen him run. Obviously he's not going to pull a Daf Schippers on us, but, he couldn't be any worse than Danny Talbot or James Ellington. He might even make the squad, which I doubt he'll manage over 100 meters any more.

As for the whole Markus Rehm situation... As soon as I saw him jump for the first time I thought "Hang on, he's jumping off his springy blade. How is that legit?" I'm not really in favour of bladed athletes competing any way, but if Rehm ever gets clearance it would have to be on the condition he uses his actual real foot for the take off.

I see Shaun Barber jumped 5.91 at the Pole Vault meeting yesterday just 24 hours after Glasgow. He has competed so much this season, very consistent though.

Nafi & Morgan have similar strengths & weaknesses. Nafi really needs to work on the track events. That's traditionally been Morgan's weakness but even though she's 3 years younger she already has a better 200 & 800 than Nafi and hopefully setting PBs in the 60 hurdles bodes well for her 100 hurdles in the summer.

There's a lot of young talent coming through, Akela Jones from the Bahamas & Kendell Williams from USA are definitely ones to watch. They're still in college and I think it will be when they finish that they will start to thrive on the global stage like Brianne has since 2012. Nadine Visser will surely only get better and Laura Ikaunice the bronze medallist from Beijing is only a year older that KJT

The cynic in me does wonder if he's getting his excuses in early as he is not guaranteed selection for Portland. As we know Safo Antwi is having a good season and Dasaolu can easily drop a low 6.5x He's also right though in that he does still need to prove himself outdoors.

Kilty when he was younger was regarded as a better 200 sprinter. It's not going to be easy making the team for either the 100 or 200 if everyone is fit. Gemili has indicated he will only do 1 event in Rio and that will probably be the 200 which makes the 100 slightly easier but there is also the likes of CJ & Dasaolu as well as the younger sprinters coming up from junior ranks like Edoburun who I really like the look of. Over 200 Gemili & Hughes have 2 positions pretty much sewn up so it will be a bun fight for that 3rd spot.

I have to defend Danny Talbot a bit, He has set PBs the last 2 years, the 20.27 time he ran in Beijing is not shabby. Sure he's not going to be making global finals or challenging for medals like Gemili & Hughes but he really doesn't deserve bracketing with Ellington.
