If KJT could win the gold in Rio she would be set up for life which her tall elegant looks. Marketers dream! Articulate too but needs to reduce the Scouser element!

No - the spots were filled by Proctor, Ugen and Sawyers IIRC.

Oh dear, I think Martyn Rooney false started...and he's DQd.
That said, the applause for the long jump seems perfectly timed... |

KJT and Proctor are having a pretty good comp - both jumping 6.80m+ today.
Jade Lally also having a decent comp - beyond 61m in the women's discus. |

What would happen if the Jamaican trials were the same as the American ones
Would Usain Bolt not qualify for Rio Quote:
It's top 3 in Jamaica as well but the selectors reserve the right to kick one of them out and replace them with one of their stars who didn't do the trials. That's how Bolt is going as he didn't run the finals in the trials.

Well I haven't seen much Athletics this year so what a time to tune in. Keni Harrison just poetry in motion and what fabulous reactions when the realisation hit her and her competitors-brilliant stuff.

MHS looked a bit flat to me - great track, big crowd and great conditions and he looked laboured and failed to crack 45 seconds.

I still think my idea
of giving each event world leader an automatic place makes sense just so fussy national rules don't deprive us of some of the world's best athletes. In the world champs they allow the reigning champ a free spot even though they could be well short on performance. As zoni said, a bit of a sniffle on trials weekend could be enough to lose you a spot.

Just 6cm shy of the 70m sector for Sandra Perkovic in round 2 of the women's discus (69.94m MR).

Second women's 100m heat - Marie Jose Ta-Lou 10.96 (-1.3m/s) PB!
Michelle Lee-Ahye 11.03 DAS 11.07 SB (about the same as her 10.99 (+0.1m/s) last year) Asha Philip doesn't make the final, but an 11.16 SB in those conditions is pretty good. |

I think the British system of best two plus on discretionary is the way to go. Athletes have minor injuries and illnesses near to championships trials, which are typically one weekend in a 4-5 month season; before the team has to be announced.
No Kendra is a shame and unlike the 100, 200 and 400 sprinters there is no fall back compensation via a spot in one of the two relay events. ![]() Quote:

As ZONI said, a bit of a sniffle on trials weekend could be enough to lose you a spot. The US need to reconsider their selection criteria, though we all know you will need a multi gold winning athlete, of the stature of Carl Lewis or Michael Johnson at their best, have a "sniffle" on trials day, before the US will even consider changing their rules. Its a shame because we all miss out if the best athlete is fit and absent!! EDIT: Maybe a big sponsor could nudge the US selectors in the right direction if their athletes looks to be missing out on a major championship. However its really a US problem, because most countries do not possess the depth of athletes that the US track team usually have. |

I am glad you agree Mandark, though Kendra isn't a reigning World champ only proving this season she is the "real deal". Not sure there is space for the best of the year so far....but maybe recent'ish world record holder should be considered.

Shelayna Oskan-Clarke back under 2 minutes with a 1:59.46 SB; Lynsey Sharp second in 1:59.54.

That 800 didn't stir much excitement from me.
Maybe Caster thundering round in some ridiculous time might have stirred me up a bit.

The women's 200m should be a fast one, possibly sub-22 with Schippers in the field.

Not quite, but 22.13 (-0.8m/s) is still pretty fast.
