Great throw from Anita, hopefully Sophie can produce something bigger as well and take a medal

One second outside the WR for Jebet! But, as Crammy said, she seemed to be not bothered about the WR, easing up in the last 60 metres.

Jebet saving the WR for a lucrative appearance on the circuit!

Continental records for Jebet and Coburn in 3rd and a host of PBs down to 9th.

The WR bonus ($50,000) is the same wherever you set it, no? And surely, as a WR holder, she'd get bigger appearance fees in the DL meets.

But, yeah, barring injury it's just a matter of time before she crushes the WR. It's time really, it's a not a mature WR yet. It needs to get down to 8:45/8:50 to start to be comparable in strength to other WRs.

400H very open indeed.
AT least one surprising medal expected

Or like last year, maybe three.

Anita clearly wants to have at least the top 50 throws of all-time.

Yep, no-one has dominated it for ages as shown by the paucity of sub-48 times in recent years.

Wow! Sophie ... new British Record, 74.54 and a bronze medal!

I think the Norwegian guy can make semi at least.
Also hoping for Van Zyl. Nice when veterans do well

Someone mentioned Wariner but there is also Devon Allen in the sprint hurdles. He goes tonight.

So happy for Sophie. A NR!!

On a different point. I wonder why the on-screen graphics do not show anything about NR, PB, WL, SB and so on? No little on-screen icon next to their names. Steve Cram said something about it last night. It's annoying.

I suppose we should be lucky they display WR.

Yeah, the lad did well.

Nozawa of Japan blasting the 4th heat, jogging in the last 40m comfortably and still winning, running a 48.62 PB. Very impressive.

Yeah, they never do with the 'new' Olympics graphics. It's also a bit annoying that they don't show PBs and SBs when the athletes are being introduced.

Very indeed!
I expected it to be open, but its even more than I thought.

Will almost be surprised if Bett makes semi?

World champ, Nicholas Bett ... what on earth was he doing?

Jack Green finishing well & through in 2nd in 48.96. Seb Rodger out though.

Bett has done nothing since winning gold in Beijing.

So ... 4 World records in the last 4 weeks! When was the last time that happened?

Admittedly 2 of them were in 2 women's events that either have to fully mature (Hammer) or have very few opportunities for all the best to race each other (10,000m).

We could see (for example) the second fastest time in history and nothing on the graphics would tell us that at all. No NR, or WL information to highlight anything.

I don't understand the decision to omit this information.
