Must say Im happy Klishina made the final.
The results from last night were really close; you feel the top 3 (Reese, Bartoletta, Spanovic) are a bit better than the rest, but esp Reese have her ups and downs (and bigger ups and bigger downs than the other two); Spanovic the most consistant of the three IMO.

But she was representing Russia? I thought she would be some Olympic flag?

Also, the clash between Dagostino and NZL runner. It seemed to me that US ran into NZ and they both fell.

But both are runnign final?
Why?

It seemd to be no others involved?

Quite a bad start for Eaton (by his standards).
Maybe Warner can challenge him after all?

The 100 can often be quite telliong regarding the athletes shape...

I think it was Hamblin (NZL) who clipped the runner in front of her and fell. D'Agostino then fell over Hamblin and Wenth was baulked too. Wenth is v. v. lucky to also be given a place in the final considering she only had to chop her stride and she stayed on her feet. It's not like it was the last lap.
However, we've seen that before here - the officials are very generous to appeals. Steph Twell's mistake was obviously to not fall to the ground when she got baulked/clipped.

Given the great sportsmanship shown between Hamblin & D'Agostino in helping each other up etc, I'm not going to complain about them being advanced to the final. D'Agostino won't be able to run it though because of her injury.

Ah ok. Thanks!

Also Fajdek in trouble

He has to hope for torrential rain during Group B.

Well done Andrew Butchart, through as an automatic qualifier.

SPanih guys doing shockingly bad. Both Fiufa and Mechaal.

Theyre both MOR. You kinda think theyre used to heat.

And no KEN in final

The ladies and guest runners are out for the 800m heats ...

8 heats of the 800, ten heats in the men's 200 yesterday - some of these events have numbers much bigger than the targets of 48 or 56?

With just first 2 and the 8 fastest to go through to the semis there's going to be some biggish names that miss out here ...

Props to Sifan Hassan - she could have scratched after the 1500 final last night. 5th though in 2:00.27 ... almost certainly not enough to proceed.

Top 2 from Beijing both in the 4th heat. ... Melly looking good - 1:58.38 in the heats! PBs, NRs and SBs galore in that heat.

Lamote out! Just 5th.

Fadjek out too!

8th fastest loser was 2:00.00.

Brutal qualifying. A sizeable number of 1:58/1:59 athletes didn't go through, most notable amongst them Lamote, Almanza & Akkaoui.

Conseslus Kipruto dethrones Kemboi! Great run by Jager for silver.

I was hoping for Jager to win gold since placed small bet.
Was close though but no cigar obvi

800 could be exciting, but we all know how Castre has been this year and niyonsaba also looked very good.

Then Bishop/Arzamasova maybe?

Brits packing well in the hammer. Unfortunately it's not cross-country. 19th, 21st & 22nd.

I'd love you to be correct but I still think the bronze is Wambui's to lose. The others just can't compete against the testosterone raging through the veins of their competitors.

That was some run from Christophe Lemaitre in the 200m SF. That certainly was not expected - not on recent form.

With Gatlin and Blake out a good chance for him and others to get sliver or bronze?

Yep, Merritt must be favourite for silver I'd imagine. De grasse will be disappointed if he doesn't medal,

I wouldn't mind lemaitre getting a medal even though he's French! Feel a bit for him after he burst onto the scene five six years ago... Has gone backwards a bit in terms of performances. Of course, fingers crossed for Gemili!

It was almost as if Lemaitre was done with sprinting. Over raced and was now physically shot
