More from the BBC. James Dasaolu another notable cut, not even in the relay squad.

Woke up from my off season hibernation once I heard about funding time. I can't really argue about any of the top tier athletes on the funding scheme (one day KJT will come good, one day... ). I don't see too much too much wrong with those who have been dropped from both schemes either, except perhaps for Eilish McColgan, but I kinda like following her story, so maybe I'm biased. The 2nd tier are rather more of a mixed bag, but there's not all that much to make me get all excited. Still, I might just trawl through Twitter later to see if there are any angry meltdowns. Quote:
Not sure why Dasaolu got singled out yet we are still lumbered with Kilty, Harry AA & Ellington. And no Reece Prescod. At least Joel Fearon seems to have committed to the relay. Leg 1 perhaps - I genuinely think he'd be a good shout there with the added bonus of no Kilty.
![]() I also like Joel as well. I've seen him run a couple of races and he looked the part. He seemed to have a intensity our other sub 10 boys lack. |

According to The Guardian, KJT is thinking about going to Holland. I guess that could be Dafne's coach who coaches some of the other Dutch Multi Eventers....or maybe CVC.
And Adam is said to be thinking about relocating to the US. Also seems Dasaolu has left Steve Fudge as well...he has certainly fallen out of favour. Dasaolu now with Lloyd Cowan. |

Just read the article and it also mentions going to the US or staying here, sounds like all options are still on the table. Personally I'd like to see her in a multi-coach setup in Brum/Lufbra. |

If we have a Relay Team, we must also have a Relay Team Supervisor, a Relay Team Coach, a Relay Team Chef de Mission and a Relay Team Performance Evaluation Committee. We can't be like the American or Jamaicans and just pick the best six from the trials every year, because doing it that way would throw a whole army of jobsworths out of work. |

[quote=Evo102;84433989]Bart Bennema? Or possibly Ronald Vetter, father of Anouk Vetter and former coach of Nadine Broersen. Not sure CVC would be a good fit.

The only season Kelly Sotherton threw 40m for the jav was when she was coached by Charles. Perhaps he is the one to sort out KJTs throws. |

Anyway is CVC actually coaching individual athletes any more? I thought he had a sort of Neil Black role, minus the occasional bit of physio Black does to keep his hand in.

Just a reminder for everyone that Eurosport has the last major marathon of the year from New York on Sunday afternoon.

dasaolou had a very poor season and based on times finished 8th behind all the usual suspects his best time was 10.10, kilty was 10.01, ellington 10.04 and harry aa was 10.08, i understand no one likes kilty but he was the 2nd fastest this season
I think removing Dasaolu off funding as part of a wider clear out including the other 3 would have made sense but I stand by my original point that singling him out was odd. I look forward to seeing what Dasaolu does next year now he is being coached by Lloyd Cowan. |

He's already British and European athlete of the year but I see no thread on this - why ? |

Because no one has started a discussion on it. It's a fan thread, not the BBC.

BBC ? It's a thread on athletics that fails THATS FAILS to acknowledge a British athlete THE ONLY BRITISH ATHLETE to be nominated for world athlete of the year ! The most successful British track and field athlete in British history and your thread decides to not take note ? So not a fan of the greatest ? Ok fair enough , each to there own .

The nominees for men's World Athlete of the Year are as follows:
Usain Bolt - triple Olympic champion for the third Games in succession (which is unprecedented) and arguably the GOAT of track and field Mo Farah - double long-distance Olympic champion for the second Games in succession (the first in 40 years) and the first to win a global long-distance 'quadruple-double' Wayde van Niekerk - 400m Olympic champion and WR custodian; the first to go sub-10/20/44* in the triumvirate of sprint events {* Almost 43! Not that it matters - he still elicited an OMG from Michael Johnson] |

The nominees for women's World Athlete of the Year are as follows:
Almaz Ayana - 10,000m Olympic champion and WR custodian (yes, that happened) and fastest debutant earlier in the season; almost took the BFD's 5,000m WR too Elaine Thompson - double Olympic champion and top-5 in the all-time rankings for the applicable sprints; unbeaten over 100m this season Anita Włodarczyk - hammer Olympic champion (again, in retrospect) and WR custodian (BTW, almost 83 metres in Warsaw!!); unbeaten this season too if I'm not mistaken |

The IAAF marathon and race walk courses for London 2017 have been published.
The marathon course (4 x 10km loops plus the fiddly bits) is similar to that used in 2012 (Victoria Embankment/City of London etc), but it avoids The Mall and the start/finish line is located on Tower Bridge. For the first time in WCh history, both races will be held on the same day (6 August). The race walk course is a 2km loop of The Mall between Buckingham Palace and Admiralty Arch, so Constitution Hill is left alone this time. 10 loops for the 20km walks, 25 for the 50km walk (all happening on 13 August (!), it seems). ----- Oh, and 100,000 more tickets go on sale on 28 November. |

Investigation into corruption in the Kenyan Olympic Committee continues.
The arrest came as it was alleged in a forthcoming report by investigators that high-ranking sports officials stole more than £6.4m in athletes' expenses and equipment at the Olympics. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/38061422 |

Our 4x400 girls from Beijing are set to be retroactively awarded bronze... seems we did reach that UK Sport target of 5 medals in Athletics after all, only 8 years too late!

Even before today, they were already there courtesy of medal reallocations in the men's 4x400m and women's javelin...incidentally, that means Kelly Sotherton was deprived of two medal ceremonies.

At this rate we might double the medals we won!
How many missed out on future funding for example? |

Tatyana Chernova loses her heptathlon medals from Daegu 2011 (gold) and London 2012 (bronze).
That means JEH is officially (or will shortly be, depending on the intricacies of sport bureaucracy) a three-time world champion and equal with Carolina Klüft in terms of global championship titles. |
