Congrats to Mo and Jess, thoroughly deserved!

Chuffed to bits for Queen Val.

Well done to Mo and Jess on their awards..
Well done Sir Mo Farah and Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill.

Both completely deserved.
I am very pleased about these awards

One that might go under the radar somewhat amid all of the rightful praise for Sir Mo, and Dame Jess, is Sir Roger Bannister's award: The Order of the Companions of Honour..
Roger has a record which can never be beaten

Well done to Sir Mo and Dames Jess and Valerie. But still no Sir Bolt??!!!!!!! With all due respect to all the other athletic knights, Sir Bolt actually sounds like someone who could have had a seat at the round table

It would be up to the Jamaican PM to nominate him, as the the NZ PM has obviously done for Val.

Yeah, I just did a quick read on this. Bolt has the Order of Jamacia which is considered the equivalent to a British Knighthood. And as that order was established in 1969 and no JA PM has nominated a citzen for a knighthhod since then... there's only one conclusion to draw

So pleased for Jess - three times World Champion is an amazing achievement - and not suitably celebrated during her active years (for obvious reasons). The Dameship goes some way to make up for that.

Best thing about Jess being made a Dame is how much it's annoyed the Ched Evans cheerleaders.

How about the husband of a Knight? I don't suppose the concept of same sex marriage has been thought about by those in charge of the honours system.

Surprise news! ... Ashton Eaton & Brianne Theisen-Eaton are both retiring from athletics with immediate effect.

A fabulous new British indoor record for Laura Muir last night in the 5000 at the Glasgow Milers' Meet - 14:49.12 beating Liz McColgan's 1992 record by over 14 seconds. Laura is now #9 on the all-time list for 5000 indoors. Admittedly a rarely run event indoors but it's been done by some of the greats - T & G Dibaba, Defar, Adere & Szabo. In fact, Laura missed Szabo's European indoor record by under 2 seconds.

And Laura has said that she plans on doubling in the 1500 & 3000 at the Euro indoor champs in March!
