Missed yesterday's fun so catching up. Couple of newish men's sprinters making breakthroughs I the 60m. Theo Etienne and Kyle De Escofet. They beat Harry AA and Dwain.

Athletics Kenya supposedly announced their WHMCh team before talking to their athletes about it - so they've made 5 changes to it (WICh team also published).

Contrary to the original announcement, none of the Kenyan major marathon champions (including the women's defending champion) will be in Cardiff. Speaking of marathons - Feyisa Lelisa (ETH, bronze in 2011 WCh) and Helah Kiprop (KEN, silver in 2015 WCh) won the men's and women's races in Tokyo respectively.

As a result, Eliud Kipchoge and Mary Keitany won $500k each as the winners of the 2015/16 World Marathon Majors series. In Keitany's case, she was actually tied with Mare Dibaba and Kiprop on points, but got the prize to herself as the result of a tie-break procedure...no doubt the other two will feel miffed about that.

I do hope everyone's paying attention to the 3000m race walking finals. Questions will be asked afterwards!

High jump competition ain't too bad though.

I don't really follow 3,000m race walks, but I see that Bethan Davies went faster today than in the mixed comp she did a couple of months ago. (Also a NR - the first of these champs)

Surprised Chris Kandu only managed 2.17m in the high jump as he's a mid-2.2 performer.

WR under threat (by Tom Bosworth) at the British Indoors! Who would have thought?
Finished about 2 seconds outside but got a big NR.

Why are the bonus cheques for NRs in US dollars?

Indeed.

Fastest performance in five years and third on the all-time indoor list according to Jon Mulkeen (the IAAF doesn't have a 3,000m RW list for men).

Who's commentating with John Rawling? Good to see someone on the ball w.r.t lane infringements.

Adam Hague starts his pole vault comp with an easy 5.15m, as you do; women's 60m hurdles should be pretty good.

Andy Turner commentating at the moment. Shame about the DQs but this is 1 reason why they don't bother with the 200m at champs now. The tight bends make lane infringements more likely & combined with the lane draw heavily loaded towards outside lanes it's too much of a lottery

Incidentally, Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake improved his 200m PB to 20.51 the other day (currently third in the world rankings). Marlon Devonish must be happy to have won a world indoor 200m title when he did!

Only 4 women are doing the women's long jump - that's a very small list (only notable entrants are Ugen and Sawyers).

Hague stays in the comp with a third-time clearance at 5.30m; Luke Cutts and 2013 world youth champion Harry Coppell have already cleared it.

Jamie Webb wins the men's 800m in 1:51.25. I've seen slow races at nationals before, but that's ridiculous.

Nice clock malfunction! Levine 20.28 for the first 200. Think it stopped at about 180m.

Commentators need educating on the qualifying specifications. Levine has the indoor standard from last year and has just won the 400m title so therefore has booked his spot on the plane to Portland.

Commentators are saying how he needed to run quicker, won't be going to Portland etc.

Yes indeed. Still, nobody broke 48 seconds in that race...

Sawyers does a 6.67 PB in the fifth round and takes the lead - another 8cm is still needed for auto-qualification if she wins.

Steph Twell wins the women's 3,000m and has the standard, so she will be in Portland.

Easy for Steph. 8:55 with a 2:49.5 last km.

Jo Moultrie under the 9:00 standard with 8:58.75 in 2nd place. Contrary to what the commies said, she didn't have the standard coming into this race (her 8:57 came in a mixed race). Hope to see her in Portland too.

No improvement for Sawyers, but she wins the title.

Louise Bloor won the women's 200m with a 23.39 PB.

Sawyers is actually ranked inside the top 12 indoors now... a possible IAAF invite on the cards for her?

That depends on what happens in today's other national championships in Europe etc.

Women's 60m hurdles final about to start - surely a sub-8 for the winner. For the record, JEH's stadium record is 7.95.

Porter wins in 7.98, so she'll be in Portland. Solomon equalled her SB of 8.05 for second, and Hatton clocked 8.15 for third.

I was hoping for a bit more, but that was arguably the best all-around W60mH final in a British champs.

Men 1,500m final about to start - is Rimmer about to do a Mehkissi-Benabbad* and take it by storm?

[* Sans mascot abuse, obviously!]
