As I was saying. Mind you I won't be too smug, predicting that Powell will bottle it in a champs final is hardly an 'out there' prediction.

Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's session, well worth staying up for. Great field event finals, what a series from Tom Walsh. LJ final really came to life towards the end. Pleased for Nia Ali, cute baby too. Well done to Tiff & Lorraine on their bronze medals. And loved Brianne winning, beating the Ukranians to win her first global title, thrilled for her...but also hoping that's her only global gold this year.

Just caught up with last night, and am regretting that I didn't stay up. What a sensational session, great performances and drama all over the place. Hard to pick the best, but probably the Pentathlon, can't remember anyone ever lifting themselves from bronze to gold on the run before.

Another factoid for your delection:
KJT and Ugen now share indoor and outdoor long jump PBs; together with Proctor, they have a WICh medal each from the latest 3 editions.

Finally caught up with last nights rather good session. Props to Lorraine and Tiff for their medals, but many of the rest of our team left a lot to be desired. Though at least Kilty is still in Tweet first, think later mode, which is always nice to see.

Brianne did damn well in the 800 and while I don't really buy in to the whole Team Eaton love in thing, I think she deserved that gold in the end.

As for Asafa... Good grief!

There are some notable events on the roads this weekend - one of which is the Dudinska 50, in which Tom Bosworth won the 20km race walk with a 1:20:41 NR! The previous mark (1:22:03 by Ian Mccombie) was set all the way back in Seoul 1988.

Also the New York Half Marathon, highlights on Eurosport on Monday.

What was the reason he wasn't there? I was watching but I was so tired I just picked up that he was a DNS.

Looking at this, the Ghanaian press were expecting him to be there.

Eurosport didn't know the reason, did the BBC?

They didn't mention him overnight, so I guess not.

Incidentally, there's talk on Twitter that DeLoach should have been on the wLJ podium. In all honesty, it looked like she'd gone beyond 7m in her last jump at first glance...

Agreed! I couldn't understand the delay in measuring her distance either.

Lindsay Sharpe messes it up, should have been on the favourites' shoulder all race if she wanted to win.

Slow clap for Lynsey...

Talks a good fight though.

Yeah, when it comes to post-race interviews she's clearly been sitting at the feet of Ace Rimmer.

There's a Ghanian athlete (Great first name, Flings) in the women's 60m, so clearly they have some kind of team here.

Easy win for Daf after a weak start.

Hmm, the US seems to have been signing up a lot of Africans from the College Circuit recently, that about half a dozen I've spotted.

It's obviously the "B Team" presenting on the Red Button.

The female commentator is driving me nuts, with her frequent upwards inflection of words at the end of many sentences, where does the BBC find them?

It's Katherine Jenkins, Olympic Silver medallist at Sydney 2000. It's not the BBC who's employing them, we think this is the IAAF's own regular commentary team, the BBC are just taking the standard feed the IAAF provide to the rest of the world. Actually, I think it is better, because it gives equal coverage of all events without the usual BBC bias towards their own particular pet athletes.

That's actually the world feed commentary team, who are working for the IAAF (or a sub-contractor)

Wrong profession mate! It's actually Katharine Merry (bronze medal, BTW).

Depends on your point of view, I think we get given far too much information, "a few pauses would be good."

Saudi girl showing a dangerously provocative bit of neck there - 60 lashes when she get home.

Has she finished yet? National Record!

Fourth heat - Ahye in 7.09 NR (RT 0.129), DAS second in 7.12 (RT 0.105!*)

[* Minimum allowed is 0.100, so DAS was living dangerously]

Fifth heat - Ta Lou in 7.17 (RT 0.169)

Sixth heat - Pierre in 7.07 (RT 0.154) - fastest qualifier overall

Looks like Big Daf will need a flyer of a start to win this particular gold medal.

Anyway, that's all I can bothered with in this session. All that's left is a painful women's triple jump, some old fogeys running 800m, more gushing over Ashton Eaton and extra Katharine Merry.

Have fun.

4x400m relay heats! 6 teams to qualify out of 7 starters! It will be carnage.
