It's obviously the "B Team" presenting on the Red Button.

The female commentator is driving me nuts, with her frequent upwards inflection of words at the end of many sentences, where does the BBC find them?
Katharine Merry does the commentating on pretty much everything I've seen, also live in the stadium. Tbh I don't understand why she is used so much as I find her a bit annoying; maybe she's cheap or there aren't many commentators who can talk about the full range of events?

Rondel Sorrillo almost gifted the other relay teams qualification (he got a yellow card for twitching in the blocks).

Eaton fails first attempt in the PV - it's not quite over yet....

What would have happened if he had been DQ'd? Would the officials say to the other teams, "Ok lads, you can go back to your hotel," or would they have still had to run the heats?

They'd have to do the heats anyway.

Eaton clear at 4.90m in second attempt.

-----

With just one valid jump (14.41m), Yulimar Rojas becomes the first ever Venezuelan world indoor champion! (And medallist, for that matter)

And the youngest ever gold medallist at the world indoors (according to the Eurosport commentators)!

Hmmm...that might be a cryptic way of throwing shade at Mohammed Aman.

It won't count towards the medal table, but Brits claimed podium spots in the Masters races (including a dramatic victory in the men's race).

They would still have needed to work out lane draws for the final.

Looking at the heptathlon scores, I'd say anything but an Eaton victory ain't happening.

Aman was (legally) 18 when he won the 800m title in 2012, so Rojas isn't the youngest ever world indoor champion. That, or Eurosport comms were talking specifically about women.

That's possible but at the time, it appeared they meant Rojas was the youngest with both sexes. Do you know if she's the youngest ever female gold medallist at the competition?

There's obviously something going on here that I don't understand. Legally 18?

Certain athletes' DOB (notably those of some African mid/long distance runners) apparently tend to be falsified to make them younger than they actually are, especially in age-group comps. It's easier to do so in countries where the standard of official documentation (birth certificates etc) is poor.

According to the IAAF statsbook, Kalkidan Gezahegne (ETH) won the 1500m title at 18 years of age in 2010.

Highlights of of yesterday were the women's long jump and the men's shot put.

Asafa did exactly what he always does in a final.

It is a shame really - and shows just how important psychological strength is in sport, poor Powell is the exact opposite of Bolt when it comes to delivering in pressure situations.

Oh right, thanks.

Sounds like the kids we get in school who are apparently 15 and look older than the teachers.

I missed the end of pole vault - did Eaton get 5.50?

No, so his best remains 5.10m.

5543 with the 1000m to come, so no WR for Eaton. He'd need a time of 2:20.48, which is impossible.

BTW, if anyone's interested in messing around with combined events scores then there's a page on the USATF website.

That's why she's good she knows her stuff. As well as being an ex athlete Kath is an athletics fan as well and follows the sport all year round. I get the impression with the likes of Denise, Colin & Jonathan the TV work is just a gig. And if they're not working they never really bother watching the sport

Well well, Max 'barely out the junior ranks' Hess almost took the lead from Dong Bin with his 5th attempt in the triple jump (ruled a foul)

Boris Berian does a Rudisha in the men's 800m final - he went to the front and held everyone at bay with a winning time of 1:45:83 SB. First 400m clocked at 49.73

Michelle Carter wins the women's shot put with a 20.21m WL/PB - the last throw of the competition! Anita Márton edged ahead of Adams for the silver with a 19.33m NR
