6 laps in, and Dibaba has basically jumped away at will...it's not that big a gap, though.

She could only manage 1.89m tonight.

Women's 3,000m - surely Dibaba FTW...
Thanks

Genzebe Dibaba takes it with consumate ease. Meseret Defar takes the silver (a somewhat familiar position when it comes to that dynasty).

-----

Dan Bramble does an 8.12m SB in the men's long jump. Steph Twell came sixth in the women's 3,000m

Is Chris Hare a vague medal hope here? He's certainly paid his dues on the US indoor circuit.

ANSWER: No.

Very good run by Steph in 6th, beating some good runners (5:44 for her last 2k). Really chuffed for her. All the indications are that she'll go sub-15 again this summer.

Another host nation win as Matthew Centrowitz takes the men's 1,500m; silver medallist Jakub Holusa was out of it at the bell but very nearly stole it! Nick Willis held on for bronze - the shock is that the podium is devoid of Africans.

It's relay time!

Vashti Cunningham wins the women's high jump with 1.96m - which means two 18-year olds have won world indoor titles today!!

Oregon is clearly a great place for teenage women to win global* high jump titles.

Carnage in the women's relay as one of the Jamaicans got clipped. In any case, nobody was catching the hosts (3:26.38 WL).

-----

Marquis Dendy makes amends for Beijing with an 8.26m jump - enough to win the title. Rutherford's training partner Fabrice Lapierre was just a centimetre shy with an 8.25m AR! Huang Changzhou wins bronze with an 8.21m PB and Dan Bramble came sixth with an 8.14m SB (that's actually an indoor PB).

BTW, the winning height in the women's high jump was 1cm shorter than the nominal IAAF standard. Yes, shorter. XD

Time for the men's 60mH final now...and it's gone to Omar McLeod with a 7.41 =WL! (RT 0.131)
France second and third again, just like in 2014.

Martinet-Lagarde starting to acquire a bit of an Asafa Powell-type reputation. That's a few times he's gone into a final as favourite and hasn't done the job.

His time (7.46 SB) was identical to the 2014 final as well.

Men's relay WL is currently held by a collegiate quartet - which says a lot about the low frequency of such events outside the United States.

Host nation takes it, as expected (3:02.45 WL). Borlee Bros lose out after the 'outsider' drops the baton!

National records for the Bahamas (3:04.75) and Trinidad and Tobago (3:05.51).

The United States won half of the titles on offer.

We can only hope the next host gets a similar host nation boost.

Can't remember the last time I saw a baton drop in the 400m relay... I guess the brothers won't be saying much to that other bloke on the way home.

A rather less interesting session than the others, but that was the first world indoors I've followed in depth and it wasn't that bad. Team GB were a bit a lame though. The excuses will be amusing to read as always.

I enjoyed those championships. It makes such a difference being able to see big chunks of the field events - you just can't get involved in them otherwise.

Hopefully you'll have time for this event too.

World Half Marathon Championships, World Championships and World Indoor Championships - they're all happening in the UK during the next 2 years!!

Anyone here heading to Cardiff 2016 on Saturday?

Not as good as the previous 2 evening sessions. Mens 1500 was the highlight. Noticed how nobody congratulated Dibaba at the end, make of that what you will.

Well done to Vashti Cunningham winning gold at 18 years old but even for a World Indoors that winning height was a bit lame. If the Russians remain banned perhaps Blanka is the only other big name missing from the HJ who will be in Rio. Marquis Dendy's attire was something else, rocking the Leroy from Fame look with those shorts. I guess he made up for Beijing a little but nothing there to truly worry Greg. And poor non Borlee dropping the baton.

Overall Team GB did about as expected - I thought they would win 3-4 medals with a gold hard to come by. USA dominated on account of them being the only country interested in sending a decent team

I think that Dafne is capable of 10.6 and 21.5 at this years Olympics if things go in her favour.

She may have been beaten here but she is simply a spectacular athlete.

I got thinking about Greg tonight and how he doesn't appear to have done much commercially unlike Ennis-Hill and Farah especially since he's won everything that needs to be won. I wonder why that is.

PS: Dendy's shorts were very interesting indeed

Pretty good Indoor Champs. Worth the late nights.

I'm certain we'll see a 10.6 this year, but it won't be from Dafne. I don't the women's 200m times will be nearly as fast as in Beijing either, let alone 21.5 level, but Dafne's the favourite there.
