Ticketing details for London 2017 have been released!

People can apply for tickets during a three-week ticketing window between 10:00 on 1 August and 20:17 on 22 August. Oversubscribed sessions will go to a ballot and any leftover tickets will go on general sale in September.

World ParaAthletics Championships (14-23 July) - timetable
All child tickets £5
Morning session £10 / £15 / £20
Evening session £15 / [£25 or £30?] / £45

IAAF World Championships (4-13 August) - timetable
All child tickets £9.58
Morning session [£12.91 on 6 August, £20 otherwise] / £35 / £50 / £70
Weekday evening session [£18.29 on 7 August, £35 otherwise] / [£52.74 on 10 August, £60 otherwise] / £75 / £95
Weekend evening session £45 / £80 / £125 / £155

Far more affordable than 2012, no? Mind you, there aren't any multi-session tickets.
Compared to the Olympic athletic tickets? Massively cheaper.

If you signed up the priority window opens up on May 19 and runs to May 26.

Definitely a lot cheaper than 2012 but a bit more expensive than Glasgow 2014 which feels about right to me.

Are they spreading out the priority window? I got an e-mail a short while ago which has the priority window as 1st-8th June? I may buy some in that and then bid for some other tickets in the ballot to spread out the cost.

IAAF press release
IPC press release
LOC press release

1.5 million tickets across 30 sessions means they're selling 50,000 tickets per session. Max stadium capacity post-2012 is 60,000 IIRC, so there's probably another 300,000 tickets in reserve (to be released later).

Timetables linked in previous post don't include the road events, which are free to watch.
Don't forget VIP tickets for Seb & his cronies and Hospitality Tickets. Plus the Commentaters often take up a hefty chunk of seats by the finish line

Genzebe Dibaba is making her track 10,000 debut in Dubai this weekend

From everything I've read she intends to do the 1500 in Rio and Round 1 of the 1500 is only 9 hours after the 10000 final so she surely can't be thinking of attempting an unprecedented 1500/10000 double. Perhaps she's just testing the waters for a possible move up in the next few years?

They don't get charged for, so won't appear on the price lists. I imagine the walks will be held in one of the iconic central London venues, well away from the stadium. The marathon finish as well. That's what they did in Berlin, for example. Not even the medal ceremonies are timetabled.

In an earlier version of the timetable the Walks & Marathons were scheduled for the weekends. They'll probably use a similar route to the Olympics with a looped course in Central London.

Good article on Veronique Marot, returning to the London marathon at age 60 (still #3 on the UK all-time list).

Currently going viral internationally - saw it on ESPN while eating my toast this morning - the amazing last lap of the Irish University Championship's women's 4x400 relay held last weekend.

The best part of that was the commentary on the last lap!

What a last 400m!

Deep, deep, down in the struggling masses of the London Marathon, somewhere in between all the Kenyans and the runners dressed as rhinoceroses there will be a battle for British Olympic selection. Previews here

Just been announced that Glasgow will host the European Indoor Champs in 2019. That means within the space of 7 years Britain will have hosted Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Works, World Indoors and European Indoors.

2022 for the Europeans to complete the set?

I hope the BBC give the British battle for places its due attention with dedicated cameras following them.

Chris Thompson is somewhat intriguing in the men's race. Does he still have it in him to make a major champs team? I hope that he and Callum Hawkins can pull through tomorrow.

In the women's race I'm rooting for Charlotte Purdue. One of those terrific juniors we've had who hasn't yet pushed on. However, there's signs she's starting to find her feet (legs?) again and she's still only 24.

It's not even May and two female sprinters (Schippers / Bowie) have already gone sub-22.3 over 200 this season - add that to Merritt's 19.78 WL/PB and it's clear Olympic season is already underway.

That's some portfolio! Four years before that announcement in Singapore, we suffered the embarrassment of having to forfeit the 2005 WCh...

Schippers could be absolutely spectacular over this distance if all goes well and she reaches the Olympic final - 21.5?

Who knows?

Very interesting stat by Jon Mulkeen - Schippers has superior PBs to Sanya Richards-Ross over 100m, 200m and 800m

SRR's PB over 400m is 48.70...how fast can Schippers go over said distance?! (Not that she'll be in a hurry to do regular 400s right now)

There's a separate thread for today's London Marathon.

Couple of decent 200m runs from brits overnight in the US. Ashleigh Nelson ran a PB of 22.96. Great to see her back fit & in good shape. Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake ran a windy 20.14.

If everyone's fit for trials should be some great sprint races

Courtney Okolo ran an incredible 49.71 for her season opener. Just outside Shaunae Miller's 49.69 season opener and, along with Quanera Hayes' 49.91, means we've already seen 3 sub-50 performances already in April. Last year, only 5 women ran sub-50 all season.

The first Rio-bound athletes from TeamGB have been confirmed.

Marathon - Callum Hawkins, Tsegai Tewelde, Alyson Dixon and Sonia Samuels achieved automatic qualification by virtue of being the first 2 in their corresponding trials in London (with standards met); Derek Hawkins was also selected as he met the UKA standard in London as well* but the third women's spot was left vacant.

50km race walk - Dominic King is an automatic qualifier (he won at his trials in Dudinska with standard already met).

[* That makes it 3 Scotsmen (including 2 brothers) in the men's Olympic marathon]

2 natives and an adopted Scot, if you want to be picky. To be fair to Tewelde, he has been part of the Shettleston Harriers for some time (and he has the backing of the club secretary).

So he needed that translator at his press conference for his thick Scottish brogue.

And I'm claiming the achievements of the Stewart clan for England on the basis of their affilation to the mighty black and gold of Birchfield (and their brummie accents).
