Caterine Ibarguen's streak is still in place - she won with a 15.04m (+1.5m/s) WL! Rojas improved to a wind-aided 14.92m (+2.6m/s) in the comp.
You can always rely on Doha for cracking performances. Speaking of - Sandi Morris won the women's pole vault with a 4.83m WL and (equal) Diamond League record; Nicole Buechler vaulted to a 4.78m NR |

Yet another WL - Erik Kynard wins the men's high jump with 2.33m. Grabarz cleared 2.29m for fourth place.
Men's 200m - Ameer Webb wins it in a 19.85 (+1.9m/s) PB/MR |

Now for the women's 800m. All eyes on Semenya, obvs.
And she takes it in 1:58.26 (yup, WL again); that looked quite easy. Might have even been a negative split. |

Men's 110mH won by Omar McLeod in a 13.05 (+1.4m/s) WL - despite struggling with the hurdles towards the end! Not surprising as he has sub-10 pace on the flat (which is unprecedented for a sub-13 high hurdler).

Pretty stacked field in the women's 3,000m - favourite by reputation (if nothing else) is Almaz Ayana. There's also a relay event after that, but that probably won't be televised.
Taylor win's the men's triple jump with a 17.23m (+0.3m/s) WL - nowhere near the standard of last year's astonishing H2H with PPP. |

Nice to see McColgan Jnr. finally on the flat. She should have done this years ago, instead of making me wince watching her in the steeplechase. From what I could make out from the choppy coverage, she ran a sensible race.
Good run from Mrs Doyle too. Anyway, I'm glad Doha's done and dusted for another year. |

/QUOTE] I though Barshim looked terrified, I think he's fallen into the trap of being over-coached, thinking too much about it. |

Part of me hopes Semenya beats Kratochvilova's world record to hold the daft decision made by CAS to ridicule.
Great race between Schiller's & Bowie, I think the women's 100 could be really competitive this year. Ibarguen has now got herself some serious competition, perhaps both TJ world records are under threat this year? Great win by Eilidh Doyle. Easily her best opening run. A fit Hejnova is a class apart in this event but other than that there isn't a whole lot of depth in this event. If she can run sub 54 she will be there or thereabouts when the Rio medals are handed out. |

Seems to be a good year for British men's race walking - in the World Race Walking Team Championships, Callum Wilkinson finished just off the U20 10km podium with a 40:30 NJR.* It'll be interesting to see what Bosworth does over 20km this afternoon.
[* Now named 'NU20R' by the IAAF, but that's a crappy shorthand IMO. Same goes for other age-group records] |

Some good comedy moments in there.
Crammy saying "Caster Semenya.....has she got something extra?". Incredibly camp celebration by Zhang Guowei in the HJ. Javelin throwe called Lu Huihui.

Bosworth clocked 1:22:55 for 34th place. Not as good as he probably hoped for, but it's still the best World Cup result by a British senior (yes, across all three Olympic-class disciplines) for 21 years.
Without the Russians to contend with, the Chinese are having a field day with 3 individual victories (and probably another to come today). |

And they deliver again - world champion and WR holder Liu Hong wins the women's 20km in 1:25:59 despite a strong challenge from María Guadalupe González (who bagged a 1:26:17 AR for her troubles).

Post-Melbourne, the World Challenge circuit is now on a roll as competitors did their stuff in Kingston last night.
Results The strong winds produced some interesting contrasts: Women's 100m - Thompson 10.71 (+2.4m/s) Women's 200m - Miller 22.14 (+2.2m/s) Women's long jump - DeLoach 6.47m (-1.4m/s) [Proctor second with 6.46m (-2.2m/s)] |

I really think this will be the year of the women's sprints.
Whoever mentioned earlier about the women's 100m being very competitive this year is completely correct. Three women already in mid 10.8 shape in May, and that doesn't even include the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Thompson's performance really bodes well for her in the 200m in particular. Miller performed very well too as she continues to demonstrate her versatility, although her performance at last year's meet was better. |

Some notable performances from some Brits in the Shot this weekend.
KJT has thrown over 13m for the first time with 13.14m. And both Sophie McKinna & Rachael Wallader set Olympic qualifiers with 18.41 & 18m respectively. Would be nice to have a few more throwers than usual in Rio |

Great run by Eilidh! It beats her previous best season-opener by 0.9 seconds, I think. Is she on the cards to go mid-53 this year? ![]() Quote:
It's truly a bad joke. Political correctness is going to do as much damage to the credibility of this event as Russian dopers did.

Desiree Henry is down to compete at the Adidas Boost Meet this weekend. I'm convinced she'll be our next sub-11 second sprinter.
Other names include Yohan Blake, Warren Weir and Tori Bowie. Competing athletes: http://ladv.de/meldung/teilnehmer/11817 http://ladv.de/meldung/teilnehmer/10963 |
