You can add Rhys Williams to that list, 49,22s in Germany today.

Wow. That was a properly good women's steeplechase. Sub 9 minutes... just.

Documented results are slow to come by, seeing as there's no live results function on the Eugene DL webite.

Men's 400m coming up should be a good'un.

James clocks 44.22 ahead of Merritt - bit slower than expected, but their rivalry has always been one to savour. That's Kirani's third Eugene win in succession.

Charlie Grice won the 'B' mile race with a 3:52.64 PB.

Ruth Jebet (BRN) - 8:59.97 (!)
Hyvin Kiyeng (KEN) - 9:00.01
Emma Coburn (USA) - 9:10.76

That's three area records in one race!!

It's interesting that Geoffrey Kamworor has opted to race the distance sprinters (Caleb Ndiku et al) in the 5,000m rather than last night's 10,000m.

It's another victory for Muktar Idris with a 12:59.43 WL. Kamworor was out in front for several laps and still clocked a 12:59.98 PB for second place - interesting!

Women's 200m up next - sub-22 for the winner could happen.

21.99 (+1.9m/s) WL/PB for Tori Bowie!
22.11 and 22.16 for Schippers and Thompson respectively.

28-05-2016
Gatlin wins the men's 100m with a wind-aided 9.88 (+2.6m/s).
Edward_Sloley
28-05-2016
Faith Kipyegon wins the women's 1,500m with a 3:56.41 WL/NR - her second sub-3:57 this season.
Edward_Sloley
28-05-2016
Kendra Harrison 12.24 WL/AR (+0.7m/s) in the women's 100mH!! Jesus wept - she tore the field to shreds.

So that's what a seriously rapid 100m hurdles look like.

You have to love it when you can sense a fast time coming in a sprint.

I have the feeling that if Donkova's record is broken, it'll happen in the US Olympic trials, rather than the Olympics.

A couple of women's WRs over the barriers were under threat in Eugene! Will either record go this year?

Good run by Laura Weightman, especially for a season debut - her best time for almost 2 years.

Stuart Storey takes such care over his pronunciation of Dafne Schippers but hasn't picked up yet on the correct pronunciation of Tori Bowie's surname.

So, is it Daf-nuh, Daf-nee or maybe, even Daf-neh? And is it Shkippers, Shippers or Skippers? Can anyone confirm?

Julian Reid jumped 16.96 today in Bedford, but the wind was +3.1 so it won't count as a Q unfortunately. So Reid and Douglas will still need another Q yet.

Should be Dufnay Skhippers i.e. very short A and a throat-clearing SCH sound.

And what a great meet, amazing times and two doped records under threat, so that's got to be a good thing.

With regards to Lake, she has pulled out of the Gotzis meeting and won't be contesting the second day. She's not fully recovered from injury yet, she posted this on Twitter:

That is the correct Dutch pronunciation.

It's only one "e" in her first name, so that is short.

And I get that the "sch" sound is very tough for the Brits, but in this case think of a ship (in fact, that is the Dutch translation; ship = schip = schippers; mind you the plural for schip is schepen )

There ends your Dutch lesson for today.

Meanwhile, KJT is struggling in Götzis and will have even trouble holding onto a top 3 finish at this rate

She will probably start the 800m in sixth place.

All the rest of the top 5 (except BTE) are great javeling throwers and BTE, Ikauniece and Schäfer won't lose that many points in the 800m.

Anyway, would say that the current top 7 (with Rath replacing Vetter) + Jessica E-H, Broersen and Visser will probably be the top 10 at Rio. Obviously, we could always have a surprise Eastern Europe entry or even an American who suddenly starts performing

Kendra Harrison.
OMFG

What a race!

I didnt notice her at all last year? Did I?

It seems the WR is likely to be broken soon, but we also seen it before; Stowers last year, Rollins a few years ago. US athletes coming from nowhere to make fantastic times, then they just slowly get wrose...

Also, Semenya could be very close to the impossible 800 record this year.

The main priority for KJT is Rio qualification, which she is almost guaranteed right now. I wouldn;t say she is struggling - she was world class in the high jump and 200m, PBd in the hurdles, played it safe in the long jump, and then threw an underwhelming shot.

In other news, SwissAir failed to transport John Lane's poles from Birmingham to Austria (how you lose poles is beyond me...), so he's had to withdraw from the event. A real shame. Hopefully Bryant can get the qualification mark though.

The struggle still seems to be between her ears. She is clearly in great shape and hopefully she'll throw herself into some low key club events, put Beijing firmly behind her and get back to doing 6.60 in the LJ with her eyes closed.

But if she can manage 35m in the jav and around 2:20 in the 800m then she'll at least get the 6200pts needed for qualification out of the weekend.

Wow at Kendra!! Sensational run and there's nothing of her!! Hit hurdles too. A clean run with a following wind and she'll run sub 12.20. Could become America's biggest female athletics star of the current generation although hurdles is not a glam event. She looks the real deal. Can't see her suddenly dropping off back to the 12.50s

Thanks for that Sherlock! Louis Van Gaal pronunciation next time? British commentators and pundits still seem to vary between a soft and hard G.

Poor run from Makwala though. Ran sub 44 in the first round in Beijing last year. I now expect great things!!
