Well done to Brianne on her win. She did well, seems her upper limit is 6750-8000
With that kind of upper limit, Jess et al may as well give up then. That's like Eaton scoring five figures in a decathlon.

Speaking of Jess, she's aiming to put down a score in next month's Stadtwerke Ratingen Mehrkampf-Meeting.

-----

Warner won the decathlon with 8523 - here's the full breakdown.

Ans SAFP is in poor form at the moment. Will need to improve to make the Jamaican team never mind trying for 3 golds in a row
Her training has been disrupted due to a recent injury, but outside of Thompson and VCB, there isn't a whole lot of depth among the Jamaican women in the sprints. If she can recover and regain even semi-good form in the next 4 weeks, I reckon she'll be fine.

Next stop on the Diamond League tour will be Rome on June 2nd. Startlists aren't up on the official page yet, which is strange considering it's only 3 days away, but a provisional list can be found here: http://www.fidal.it/upload/files/201...a-cast2016.pdf

If Morgan was carrying an injury a very silly decision for her to compete which unsurprisingly didn't work out. No doubt not helped her confidence and probably delayed her recovery. Not just her fault as this is where a good team comes into play especially for a 19 year old. Perhaps at the end of this season time for her to move on from Daddy?
It'll be interesting to see in the autumn what uni she has opted for, hopefully one of the sporting centres either Loughborough or Bath where she can train with other talented athletes and be influenced by other coaches and their methods.

KJT seems to lack the sheer inner steel that Jess has although that is of course very rare.

I think if she is close to full fitness Ennis will triumph once again.

I also would be delighted for some of the ancient women's world records to fall but the preposterous 100 and 200m times of Flo Drug still annoy me everytime I see them displayed on the bloody screen.

So Jess is planning to do a Heptathlon in Rantingen in Germany on 25th-26th June. I believe Ashley Bryant is also competing there to try & get the Olympic qualifying standard. Only downside is that clashes with trials which means anyone having tickets for that won't get to see them in individual events

Something to look forward to next week - BT Sport are bringing us the whole four days of the NCAA Track and Field finals live for the first time.

And John Lane is competing in Czech Republic in 2 weeks in another decathlon trying to get the Rio standard.

Nice to see at least 1 Brit in every event.
Does guarantee zero coverage of field events, though. Every single track event will be preceded by a BBC puff piece on the athlete in question, and followed by a "I don't know where it all went wrong, Phil, I was feeling good in training" interview afterwards, as well as the all-important inquest by Denise, Colin & Gabby trackside.

I was just checking the schedules for the next two Diamond League events. Rome didn't provoke much interest, but Brum is looking quite varied and boasting some good fields. The women's 100 hurdles should be enlightening and the 100 flat sports many of our girls. I'd hazard a guess and say it'll be more of a confidence boost win for Big Daf. Just hope the weather is decent.

I was shocked to discover they've even dug up Goldie Sayers for another go in the javelin... I doubt that'll end well!

Well, the Germans deserve to get their money back if they are doping, because they're useless.

She might have a point, esp when it comes to US and Kenya...

LOL at Germany

Interesting angle by Isinbayeva. I wonder what her sources are?

Doth the lady protest too much? Throughout this there's been a presumption by many that she wasn't caught up in doping but, with Chicherova testing positive, I think all Russian athletes are now under suspicion.

Don't think she has much to do with the team, though. She lives and trains in Monaco, so is pretty much isolated from the whole culture.

That's way out of date.

She did live in Monaco for a while back in the noughties but she moved back to Russia several years ago. She is also very close to Putin hence her comments defending Russia and it's homophobia before Sochi. She will be speaking very much as part of the Russian team & on behalf of the state on this, mark my words.

On a similar note I wonder if Darya Klishini, who has been based in Florida with Loren Seagrave for a few years now, in the event of a Russia ban will be allowed to (or want to) compete under the IOC flag?

But everyone thought Maria Sharapova was almost as American as apple pie after living in America for 20 years. It turned out ,however, that she's much more Russian than people realised. Given this & the likelihood of Klishina's frequent contact with the Russian athletics federation, I wouldn't be confident declaring her to be outside of the "system".

Good season opener for Laura Muir in an 800 in France last night. She won in 2:00.57, winning by almost 2 seconds.

Off we go in Rome - Eilidh Doyle a bit sub-par in third in the 400H

And pretty good tactical race for Lindsey Sharp, got herself into the right position to do a decent time in front of lots of good runners.

And i'm sure the Italians, as an opera-loving nation, appreciate Carsten's well-modulated baritone voice.
