Sarah McDonald continues to take chunks off her 1500m PB - 4:07.18 for the win in the Development race (a 3.6 second PB) and a Euro Champs qualifier (tantalisingly close to the Olympic 4:07 standard!). I told you back in February that she was going to be good. A great 2 second PB too for Melissa Courtney, 4:07.55, also under the 4:08 Euro standard.

Is it too much to ask that the BBC interrupt Denise & Paula to show a replay of the race?

And first up, it wouldn't be BBC Sport without a healthy portion of blethering before they show any of that boring people running around in circles stuff. Back to the cycling for now.

Gabby jabbering to Denise about Greg's performances. You can tell she just wanted to reply. "Fluke."

Michael Rimmer countdown clock is at -85 minutes.

Madara Palameika (LAT) wins the women's javelin with a season best of 65.68m. Goldie Sayers could only manage 57.08m for ninth place.

Martina DQ'd for a false start in the men's 100m. RT was around 0.07 or thereabouts, or so I heard.

Aaron Brown (CAN) DQ'd as well.

I see they're now advertising the 2018 WICh.

Was her elbow still correctly attached to her arm after all that?

I'm not entirely sure why she carries on to be honest.

LOL, Collins wins another one! 10.11 (-0.8m/s) for the win; Rodgers 10.11 and Ujah 10.12.

Gemili bringing up the rear in 10.29...

3 over 4.77 in the women's PV - Stefanidi, Buchler & Silva and Murer has skipped her 3rd attempt at 4.77. Next height is a World-leading 4.84.

Holly Bradshaw was disappointing - cleared 4.35 but had 3 failures at 4.50.

Birmingham having virtually the same events as Rome is a little annoying but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless - some good fields have been assembled. I agree with others that the women's 100m hurdles will probably be the highlight.

Did anyone catch the article that was floating around which says that the BBC will put syringes (along with ban details) alongside the names of athletes who have served doping bans? What are your thoughts? I think it's a bit overboard since there are different types of doping, not everyone who served a ban was cheating, etc. For example will they put a syringe next to Rhys Williams' name? It's already boring enough that they go on about it in the commentary. Fans know who's been banned, non fans don't care or will be turned off by it because its negative. Plus, while it works good to name and shame the athletes, they aren't the ones watching - we are. Those are my thoughts anyway.

3 Brits in the women's 400m.

Guei takes it with a 50.84 PB, ahead of Day (51.09 =SB).

Come on Queen Christine.....

Well, neither Christine won. Ohuruogu is a major championship performer anyway, but she didn't look good.

Ooh dear. When Christine runs badly she looks like a carthorse. Was last years WC the writing on the wall?

Still, at least Seren looks to be on the up and up.

Not a good domestic performance across the board, though Bundy Davies did produce a 51.33 PB. Onoura 51.55 SB and Ohuruogu just 52.40...relay medal prospects not looking good ATM.

Dai Greene has obviously worked out that blethering, rather than running, is his future.

Yep, sod the women's PV and TJ. Instead, let's have a Christine O montage and "analysis" by Dai Greene of Eilidh's running!

Perhaps. Sanya Richards-Ross pulled up injured and was carried off the track last night in the USA too. Felix we're still yet to see.

Thought Doyle got that women's 400mH, but the times say Tate in 54.57 (SB). Same time anyhow.

Silva clears a 4.84m WL! Also a DLR.

So close to a 2nd DL win out of 3 for Eilidh!

Kaliese Spencer had a shocker.
Gavitar

Yarisley Silva the only one to clear 4.84 (WL). The bar now at 4.92 which would be a PB for her.

Felix ran 51.57 for her opener yesterday at a low-key meet.

Poor Doyle

She left the MVP (same as SAFP and world leader Janieve Russell) training camp after Beijing last year. I wonder if that's had an effect.

The women's 100m gets heats, which is good practice for the semis+final day combo in the majors.

First heat - Schippers in 11.23, into a 3.1m/s headwind!! Nelson 2nd Q in 11.31, Ahye 3rd Q in 11.38.

Neita 5th in 11.60, Philip 7th in 11.65.
