C'mon Laura, this is brave!
Very good race, looked like she'd snap a couple of times on the last lap, but each time she dug in and got back into it. |

4:18.60 WL for Kipyegon...could have been faster if the pacing wasn't quite that fast over the first 800m, but a great run nonetheless.
Incidentally, 4:19.12 is a Scottish record for Muir, and the fastest by a UK 'native' (Zola Budd clocked 4:17.57). Oslo seems to be a good place for her! |

Španović easily won the women's long jump - 6.94m (-0.5m/s)! She looks like an Olympic medallist to me.
Proctor third with 6.67m (0.0m/s). On another subject, Nick Miller is NCAA hammer champion - winning distance of 73.98m perhaps a bit meh, but that win will hopefully build on his championships temperament. |

Great run by Laura. And still, over the last year, you can see her gaining confidence with every race. That's the closest anyone has got to Kipyegon this year. Seyaum was 1.7 seconds behind her in Eugene.
I say that Laura will take Kelly's British record in the 15 before the year is out. Probably in Paris (a historically fast track) just after the Olympics. |

Laura Muir always runs great races in Oslo. I really think Laura has a chance of a medal in Rio, even more so if Dibaba's injury problems continue or she decides to run 5,000m only as has been rumoured.
Another so so run by Porter, I think younger Sister Cindy may best her this year. At least Proctor is starting to find some form though not yet near her best. Jodie was very disappointing, despite positive noises on her blogs & the like regarding her training it's not really happening for her. Dafne looked ridiculously good, I wonder if Felix is wishing the request to change the timetable had been turned down. Overall other than this & the women's mile not too much to get excited about on the track. Decent Javelin but as per usual didn't see much of it |

... Laura is ultra-consistent these days and I'd trust her to be more consistent than Seyaum who has the odd slightly-off day here and there. So, yeah, if the chips fall Laura's way and she keeps on closing the gap on the African-born athletes ... |

Dafne finally shines this year! The others looked so far back.
![]() Sally Pearson way back again. I don't know what the criteria is at the Australian trials, or if she is still their best 100m hurdler, but surely she will not even make the final in Rio on this form. Such a shame to see. Time's running out, but hope she can get faster. Oslo meeting was a bit of a damp squib on the whole. |

OK, if we see someone streaking down the home straight just before the Dream Mile then we will know it is you.

Hope you're enjoying it and cheering on our Brits too (especially Laura in the Mile).
![]() I havent been to Bislett in ages, even thought we used to run there in high school. Stadium was much smaller than expected ![]() Seats were not amazing (but free so). Weather was quite horrible. We had AMAZING weather for 2 weeks, until yesterday. It was quite cold, windy and bit of rain. Results not amazing. The run by Dafne was OUTSTANDING: I think it might be even better than in Beijing when you take conditions into account and she ran it by herself. Also that new WJR by the Polish guy. We was walking like 1 m in front of me in the stands but didnt ask for a picture. Silly. He's huge |

At least it was a new SB by Sally in not very good conditions, so going the right way...

Sally has already been selected by Australia, they selected the first wave of their team in April after their national champs. It's fair to say Sally was picked on reputation rather than form but she's not keeping anyone out of the team as their only other decent hurdler is the irritating Michelle Jeneke
Not knowing how the Aussies select their team, I did wonder if Sally had been selected. Good for her, hopefully she can improve before Rio.

Vinco are streaming coverage of the permit meeting from Geneva tomorrow from 10 AM Lots of Brit sprinters & hurdlers in action, including PSd running her first individual 400 on her comeback and Gemili running 200. Both will be looking for Olympic qualifiers.

Just catching up with the NCAA - very funny moment early on. LSU win their sprint heat, interview girl asks final leg runner the "how do you feel" question. He responds with a burst of very quick pure Sarf London - no follow up questions.

Looks like one of those meets where each event has multiple races, so plenty of action. |

Seems like our sprinters are finally waking up. Can't have them peaking too early... Stockholm's diamond league meeting has quite the British invasion too.
I'm not sure I can face another Vinco streaming experience though. Perhaps I'll try it on demand once I get back from work. Interested to see what PSD does as I get the impression she seems to think she's a serious player in the 400m scene.

Didn't quite realise it at the time, and still catching up from day 1, but the US commentators at ESPN Sports are really giving our own Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake (for it was he) the coming superstar treatment.

Horrendous conditions in Geneva, but Seren Bundy Davies has just run a PB of 51.26.
PSD was a long way back sadly. |
