Knew Gemili would start to come good as the season progressed.

Wonder what's up with Zharnel Hughes, hasn't raced for 5 weeks?

Sydney McLaughlin (USA), the world U18 champion in women's 400mH hurdles, has just clocked a WYB & AJR of 54.46. She's SIXTEEN.

The previous mark by compatriot Leslie Maxie was 55.20.

The WJR by Wang Xing currently stands at 54.40.

In the heptathlon, 17 year-old Alina Shukh (UKR) made her debut in the hep proper with an incredible 6099 NJR!

That's only 49 points below the 'senior hep' U18 best Lake scored in the 2014 WJCh.

So Spanish Police have arrested Jama Aden, coach to the likes of Makhloufi, Aman & most notably Genzebe Dibaba as part of a doping investigation. Have found EPO & other substances.

Dibaba had certainly raised a lot of eyebrows with her performances so not really surprising.

Yeah. I just thought "Uh oh!" Talking of Spain, we're still waiting for that Spanish doctor to spill the beans as well. Multi sports that one!

Kenya joins Russia on the Olympic naughty step! Each athlete must go through an individual evaluation in order to compete.

This is good for the athletes that go, inlcuding those from Russia and Kenya.

Now what about Ethiopia?

I must say I have doubts about the veracity of virtually every track and field athlete, as well as many other sports.

sorry, but that's the way it is.

Coe and his ilk do nothing to dissuade the view.

Brendan Foster will be so upset, as he seems the flag waver in chief for most of them. You don't get any critical analysis from the "inside the tenters" on the BBC.

Nothing wrong with that view. Athletics, in particular is in a proper mess at the moment.

I'm just waiting for the Dibaba bomb. Or even worse (from a British perspective) the Mo bomb. Sadly, neither would be a shock now.

The only thing I can say is at least some action is now taking place, which is more than be said since, well forever really!

There's a rumour that the Russians, Operation Puerta and Jama Aden are all indignantly denying that they've ever worked with Michael Rimmer.

The one guy I think is definitely clean is Bolt. He must have an entourage of testers escorting him around the world because let's face it, if he falls, athletics will become a backwater sport may be even an amateur one again.

I think you do have to watch all top sport with a somewhat critical/cynical eye.

Having said that I equally don't subscribe to the "they're all at it" view. If I thought that I wouldn't bother watching. I am sure there are a decent number of athletes who are clean and it's for these athletes why the authorities need to step up the fight.

Olympic trials start tomorrow! Here is my (slightly lengthy) preview for the Champs. Should be an interesting weekend which will no doubt lead to the selectors having awkard decisions to make!

Enjoy!

No Rutherford, still recovering from the whiplash he suffered in Birmingham and is presently back in Arizona.

Seems Zharnel Hughes will be competing but no news on Mitchell-Blake.

Oh and not seen it mentioned on here, Meghan Beesley won't be competing and is a major doubt for Rio with an achilles problem.

Mitchell-Blake is competing, he landed in London a few days ago, first time in 3 years he's been to the UK.

Here's a round-up of tonight's action at the World Challenge meet in Madrid.

The highlight was Yulimar Rojas becoming the youngest female triple jumper to break the 15m milestone - her NR now stands at 15.02m (-0.4m/s)!

Wow!
Maybe Olympics can be exciting after all; Ibarguen just had her first loss in like 100 years so...

No surprises in the 100m heats with all the major protagonists getting through. Delano Williams was a DNS which probably means a relay spot is the best he can hope for for Rio

As well as the British Champs Jess is also competing in a Hep in Rantingen, Germany. Awful weather though which will affect her score. Ran 13.13 in the hurdles
