Coe has called nestle hypocrites, as they are sponsoring the tour de france.
I can only assume Coe means that as nestle sponsor a sport in cycling that is rife with doping allegations, why can they not continue to sponsor athletics - which is rife with corruption? The man is deluded. Athletics will continue to have a reputation in the gutter as long as Coe is in charge. He IS the blatter of athletics. |

Swoboda has just run a 7.07 WJR in Torun - Dina's tenure as the fastest teen over 60m didn't even last a year...!

PS I wondered why the head of Kenyan sport had declared so early that Kenya might boycott the Olympics because of the Zika virus. Now the accusations of doping make his declaration seem like the guy who loudly announces he's not going to the party because he knows he won't be invited. |

Her start was incredible. Will be interesting to see what she does over 100 in the summer especially with the World Juniors now on home soil for her. Before that though she is racing in Glasgow next weekend against Dafne & Dina - should be a cracking race.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that far, but I never imagined he would prove to be quite this clueless. If his farcial handling of the situation continues he will have to step down soon.
That's some time. And with all these recorded WL, WR's and PB's I may just have to watch the world indoors for once... Over 800m, Lynsey Sharp clocked a 2:00.30 PB (and Scottish record); it was a WL before Joanna Jóźwik went 18 hundredths quicker on the same day.
Marquis Dendy (USA), one of Greg's key rivals in the long jump has produced an 8.38m WL/PB. |

Stuff is happening at the ISTAF Indoor meet in Berlin tonight. (See results)
Women's 60m - after sharing the WL with Swoboda for a day, Schippers has taken it back with a 7.04 PB in the heats, then went on to equal Nellie Cooman's 30-year old NR of 7 dead! Ta-Lou lowered her PB to 7.06, Asha Philip ran a 7.16 SB and Santos (with 7.17) now has the AR to herself. Men's 60m hurdles - Dimitri Bascou (FRA) has produced the fastest run since 2012 to claim a NR of 7.41; Lawrence Clarke lowered his SB to 7.65. Men's 60m - Collins takes it again upon equalling his 6.53 SB, thanks to false starts by Julian Reus and James Dasaolu (6.58 opener in heats). |

Thiago Braz da Silva (BRA, 2012 world junior champion) beats Lavillenie in the men's pole vault with a 5.93m AR! He's now attempting to break the 6 metre barrier...and he doesn't. Still a great performance.
In the women's long jump, home favourite Alexandra Wester tops the world rankings after improving her PB to 6.95m; Proctor wasn't far off with a 6.91m PB (plus two jumps beyond 6.80m). |

Americans getting excited about Galen winning the LA Marathon (US Marathon trial) 2:11:11 .. just under 3 mins behind Mo Farah's London Marathon time. Heat will have been an issue in LA too.

This is turning out to be quite the weekend... Quote:
Chris Baker - 2.36m
![]() ![]() ![]() That result got him second place in the Hustopecske skakani behind Gianmarco Tamberi (2.38m WL/NR)...aka the Italian with questionable tastes in facial hair. ----- Looking back to yesterday's 60m shenanigans (in Houston this time), Asafa Powell produced a 6.49 WL/PB. |

I saw a 2.30 jump coming for Chris Baker but not 2.36. Fantastic breakthrough. Let's hope he backs that up.especially outdoors but before that he should get a chance of competing at World Indoors and the competition between him & Robbie at the British Champs at the end of the Month should be exciting

Windy conditions and flu in the pre-season meant that Kiplagat's HM WR was not challenged, though the athlete herself still won in Barcelona quite comfortably.
Here are a couple of articles on the Boston leg of the World Indoor Tour: [1] [2] The pick of the bunch was arguably the women's 3,000m as Meseret Defar (ETH) produced an 8:30.83 WL in her first track event since 2013. There were quite a few unusual distances in that meet (300/600/1,000m). |

Start lists for tomorrow in Stockholm - http://www.globengalan.se/english/en...ampaign=buffer
And also for saturday in Glasgow - http://www.britishathletics.org.uk/r...ampaign=buffer Genzebe Dibaba is going for a world record in Stockholm. Sadly no coverage on TV so will be hunt the stream if you want to watch it. Glasgow line ups overall look the best of the indoor meetings this year |

I see she's doing the mile there - if successful, she will be the custodian of four world records (plus the 2 mile world best) indoors. Besides Dibaba, a couple of other competitors are also targeting world best performances in Stockholm today (Ayanleh Souleiman (DJI) in the men's 1,000m and Abdalelah Haroun (QAT) in the men's 500m). All three share the same coach, as it happens.
Greg is giving Glasgow a miss due to a 'minor injury', though he intends to compete in the WICh trials at the end of February. As for the women, it looks like three of the Brits (Proctor, Ugen and Irozuru) are doing both Stockholm and Glasgow. |

For the first time in a while, a ratified world record has been credited to a Brit. Technically, it's an indoor world junior record and was bettered by a performance that won't be ratified, but it's still noteworthy (7.50 in the 60mH (99cm) by David Omoregie from 2014, if you're wondering).

The AIT International Arena Grand Prix is also taking place in Athlone tonight - 3 hours of live coverage on Irish TV from 1900. Shawn Barber, Chris Brown and Pavel Maslák will be there, along with Gavitar's favourite Canadian mid-distance runner.

^ She is my fave Canadian middle-distance runner.
Beautiful running form. Just watch her, even down the home stretch her head doesn't move an inch.Another of my faves, Gesa-Felicitas Krause, is going in the 1500 at the same meet. I'll be darned if I can find a working stream for Stockholm though.
