Not so much carnage yesterday at the US trials. Former World Decathlon Champion & Olympic silver medalist in London Trey Hardee appears to be injured after a slow 400m. He's had a lot of injuries since London.

All major names through in 100, 400 & 800. The 100 semis & finals tonight along with the 400m finals.

After jumping over 7m to finish runner up behind Reese, Tianna Bartoletta skipped a couple of attempts in the LJ final to compete in the 100m winning her heat before heading back to finish the LJ. You would think they would have helped out with the schedule. Same issue for Jarrion Lawson today as the men's LJ final starts a few minutes before the 100 semis. Marquise Goodwin just scraped into the final in 12th place which probably means he'll jump 8.50 in the final.

I'm using http://www.olweb.tv/nbc. Good stable stream once you get rid of the initial overlaid ads. Not HD but good enough, I think.

DeeDee Trotter came last in her 400m semi final. Don't forget she's the Olympic bronze medalist from London. Potentially no Christine in the individual could mean all of the podium finishers won't contest.

Jeremy Wariner was down on the track after his race also.

There was SOME carnage/controversy. The 5th fastest qualifier (Michael Cherry) got cut from the 400m final after Gil Roberts (who false started and was able to run on protest) was reinstated. Cherry ran a time of 44.81. Isiah Young also false started in the 100m, ran on protest, and has been reinstated for the semis later on today.

No Hansle at the Jamaican trials. Has applied for a medical exemption which should be granted as he's ranked in the top 3. McLeod won the title in 13.01.

Are the European Championships going to be televised? Couldn't find anything in the TV guides.

It's all on Eurosport live, and there will be live streaming with commentary, although you may need some anti-geoblocking software. Don't see anything at all on BBC.

Could watch it live myself, as some of the throwing events (like the javelin, I think) are held outdoors (near the Rijksmuseum).

The opening ceremony on Tuesday will be attended by the Dutch King.

By the way, barring injury, the winners for the female sprint distances are already known. At least one gold in the bag for team GB.

Expect the heptathlon to be a Western Affair, even without other GB prospects.

Contrary to her performance in the 400m heats, Felix books her ticket with a 49.68 WL; same goes for Merritt as he clocked a 43.97 WL.

First 2m high jump of the season goes to Chaunté Lowe - funnily enough, it's also her first since the 2012 OT. Her junior compatriot (and world indoor champ) Vashti Cunningham also makes the team with 1.97m.

In the men's long jump final, 8.40m was broken by no fewer than four (yes, FOUR) people.

Goodwin did not make top-three (another shock), but second-placed Jarrion Lawson produced a big 8.58m (+1.8m/s) WL (Henderson won with 8.59m (+2.9m/s)).

Women's 100m final windspeed was +1.0m/s. Top three were:

Bowie 10.78 PB

For the first time ever, that's three women sub-10.8 in a WIND-LEGAL race.

Men's 100m final windspeed was +1.6m/s. Top three were:

Ashton Eaton produces a WL decathlon score of 8750 to book his ticket to what will likely be another Olympic title. No WR this time (compared to 2012), but that matters not a jot.

Bowie will almost certainly win a medal. I doubt Gardner will as she's never gone sub-10.9 outside the US.

Just noted Gatlin's winning time is equal to what he did in the 2012 OT (tailwind was slightly weaker this time).

A big LOL at Bartoletta. Think that only Bowie has a chance at a medal in Rio.

Have to agree Bowie likely to be best of the Americans in Rio. Given Bromell was pretty close to Gatlin I suspect Rio will not be a 2 horse race on the men's side. With Bracy qualifying ahead of Rogers & Gay a real changing of the guard in American sprinting.

After all the build up drama Felix goes & runs the world lead. Willy boy Merritt predictably won the men's race. Tony McQuay who ran 44.25 in the semis could only finish 5th.

Not going to overreact on the LJ results given crazy winds. Let's see what they do in Rio. Lawson has little international experience. Dendy injured himself again & was on crutches afterwards.

Thankfully Eaton came through comfortably scoring 8750 but probably 80-90% of the level he will be at in Rio.

I see there were more drop outs at the Jamaican trials, almost rivalled the British trials in the end in this regard. Elaine Thompson submitted a medical exemption but SAFP will only do the 100 in Rio. In the absence of those 2 & Bolt from the 200 finals the results there were nothing to write home about.

In the women's sprint hurdles world champion Danielle Williams messed up so won't be in Rio.

Gemili now just doing the relay.

Dan Bramble also withdrawn which must put his Rio selection chances in doubt.

I see that Jonathan Edwards is presenting the Euro Champs on Eurosport. Hopefully he's just doing some athletes' reaction interviews instead of going full BBC on us and chairing endless blathering sessions.

Just 2 track finals at the US Trials tonight. The Men's 800 spots were taken by Clayton Murphy (1:44.76), Boris Berian & Charles Jock. Clayton Murphy is the NCAA 1500m champ but was just outside the 3:36 standard twice. Based on this it seems like the 800 might be his better event anyway (IIRC he was on the Beijing 800m team too.) Berian didn't do his usual crazy first lap, instead going through 400 in 2nd in about 50.7 but he still faded quite a bit in the last 100 losing a 5-6 metre lead.

However, all the drama came in the Women's 800. With 150m to go the field was tightly packed. Then Alysia Montano who was about 5th seemed to clip the heel of Brenda Martinez just ahead of her. Montano went crashing to the ground and Martinez was badly hampered, fading to a 2:06 clocking. Up front, the unheralded Kate Grace took the win in 1:59.10 with Ajee Wilson & Chrishuna Williams taking the other spots. Apart from Martinez the other big loser from the incident was Molly Ludlow - she had to hurdle over Montano but still only missed a spot on the team by 0.05s with a very strong finish.

I remember Montano falling in the heats in Beijing too, with about 200 to go, and I think it was also because she clipped the heel of someone in front. Not good for such an experienced runner.

I'd seen Kate Grace looking quite impressive in a couple of 4:05-4:06 wins over 1500m at those High Performance distance-only meets they have in the US so I was a bit surprised to see her plump for the 800 (especially given the depth the US have in 800). It turns out, what do I know? She's very good at 800 too.
