That CR of Obikwelu's is rather stubborn, I must say.
Y'know, after what happened today and in Beijing 2015, Roleder seems to be something of a dark horse for Rio - if the Americans melt down like they did before... |

Well, the French aren't doing anything to lose their reputation as a nation of sprint chokers, are they?

On the evidence of that 200m (22.37 (-0.4m/s) SB) and her progress so far this season, I'd be surprised if DAS didn't drop a couple of tenths or so come the Olympic final (assuming qualification of course). That said, I don't think she'll break 22 seconds this year.
Despite the effects of his whiplash from last month, it looks like Greg will be there or thereabouts come Rio. Notably, his first jump was hindered by a stiff breeze (8.12m (-2.6m/s)). |

The heptathlon starts tomorrow, and the question we've all wanted the answer to for a little while is clear:
Will Antoinette Nana Djimou Ida come from mid-pack to win another European title? ![]() Kateřina Cachová has the best SB (6328) of those competing; ANDI has scored 6104 this season, but has the pedigree to win another medal. |

Don't think we heard this amongst all the hurly-burly today, but Jenny Meadows has announced her retirement.
We go to a weekend schedule tomorrow - action does not start till 11:15 our time, and then the evening session runs from 17:00-21:00, and similar for Saturday and Sunday. |

You're referring to the same Frenchwoman that won the ECh 100m with a 10.73 (+2.0m/s) AR (which still stands) @ Budapest 1998, right?!

Poor Jimmy. This false starting has become a bit of a habit for Mr Kilty. Still at least No pushing of officials on this occasion. After a good PB in his semi poor from Ellington in the final. Shame Gemili didn't give it a go in the end, he could have won that.

I reckon UK Athletics should get on this transfer market. Seems to be a whole bunch of decent athletes available for hire.
We could sell Michael Rimmer to get a few quid in the kitty. Just give Kilty away for nothing to whoever takes Rimmer. BOGOF. ![]() ![]() Great wins for Dina and Greg. |

Winner of Heat 2 of the 1500m, Jakub Holusa, has been DQ'd so Lee Emanuel has been bumped into the Final.

"Rule 163.2 any competing runner or walker who jostles or obstructs another competitor so as to impede his progress shall be liable to
disqualification from that event." I'm not surprised Holusa has been DQ'd, he seems to push and shove in almost every race I've seen him in - I seem to remember Lee Emanuel himself being pushed by Holusa at the 2014 World Indoors which cause Lee to crash out in the heats too. |

Off we go for the day with the Heptathlon hurdles....and oh dear, Morgan Lake a bit Bambi on ice, almost came to a dead halt at one point, but got through in last place in the slowest of three heats. 14.72 in the end.

Unusually, we have three Brits in the men's hammer qualifiers, probably for the first time since the days of the tug-o-war and the standing long jump. First up, Nick Miller - 67.76. 75.00 for the Q.
Cold and rainy conditions, not ideal for hammer throwing. Could have been worse for Morgan - Tyminska of Poland crashed. Nana Djimou FRA leads on 1086, Morgan in 20th on 879. |

Useless fact of the day - In the heptathlon, Grit Sadeiko of Estonia is Brianne T-E's training partner. Brianne was fed up of chasing Ashton in training so she put out some feelers to the 'heptathlon community' and Sadeiko took it up.

Chris Bennet 74.39 in the hammer, takes the lead in the first round! Conditions getting worse, so you need to get something decent in quickly. Squeegee men out.
Oi, oi, oi, Nick Miller demolishes the cage, so a minor crisis, needs something in the third round. Finn manages to hang his hammer in the net, there's a bloke with a ladder come to free it. Lucky this is not Britain, Health and Safety would insist on building scaffolding. |

Huge PB & NR for the Cypriot, Trajkovic, in the 110H - taking it down from 13.55 to 13.39! (just +0.3 wind)

I'm guessing that a bloke called Milan Trajkovic is a fairly new-minted Cypriot.

Nick Miller another no-throw so that will be it, unfortunately. Just goes to show, he had one opportunity for a decent throw, didn't get it in and then couldn't cope with the weather.
Good run for David King in the 110H, 13.55 and wins the third heat. Finally, 3 days into the champs and Fiona May gets to speak Italian! Rather better than Richard Kilty's english, seemingly. Heptathlon HJ just starting, Morgan Lake needs a good one. Will the cold, wet and windy conditions suit a girl from Slough? |
