Good job by David King, 1st in 13.55, zero wind. Just 0.01 outside his PB.

The competition for Greg will be strong this year so if he can win then becoming double Olympic champion whilst seeing off some good Americans would put an end to the doubters...except Carl Lewis of course who's far too arrogant to consider any jumper to be as good as him apart from Mike Powell and may be Bob Beamon!

Laura Samuel goes in the women's Triple, Q is 14.00 - 13.65 into 8th overall, first round not quite finished.

Chris Bennett finished 3rd in the first hammer pool, so that will surely be enough.

Women's Steeplechase heats (semis) about to get underway. Come the final everyone should be fighting for the minor medals behind Gesa Felicitas Krause but if anyone could surprise her it might be Luiza Gega, a 4:02 1500 gal who's converted to the Steeple this year and has a current PB of 9:33.

Some of the on-screen PBs in the women's TJ have been way off. We've had 15.32 for Papahristou and 15.50 for Tsyhotska!! The reality is 14.73 & 14.53 respectively.

4 down at the first water jump, including our own Lennie Waite. should be able to get back into it if she's careful. Man with shotgun on hand ready to put anyone with a broken leg out of their misery.

No, in fact Waite seems to have given it up - nope, tell a lie, she's finishing strongly.

As usual the Turkish Global All-Stars Team doing well.

And in fact Lennie didn't make it, doubt she will get a lucky loser. Puzakova of BLR made the classic blunder, jogging home for 5th place, got caught on the line by the sprinting Polish runner Kowal.

9:48:46 is Waite's lucky loser time.

9:48.46 for Lennie. 3rd fastest loser with 5 fastest losers to go through. One heat to come.

Laura Samuel no jump in second round of TJ, still 10=

Morgan Lake hasn't come in to the HJ yet, bar in her pool at 1.71.

Another NJ for Laura Samuel, so eliminated.

Lennie Waite 6th fastest loser so loses out by 1 place. Rosie Clarke started quite well in her heat but faded badly to 10:00 and last.

The (actual) Turkish girl fell and pulled out at the water jump. It's all downhill for the League of Nations now!

71.65 for Mark Dry in the first round of the second hammer pool. Will probably need about 1 meter more.

Nana Djimou finishes at only 1.71 on the Hept HJ.

Are you sure they aren't SB, I know in the track events when they show the full list of competitors before the start of a race they have been showing SB's and not PB's?

No, they've been showing SBs and PBs on the individual captions. Either way their SBs or PBs aren't 15.50 & 15.32. Off the top of my head that would be joint WR holder and about 4th all-time respectively.

Jonathan Edwards taking a purely scientific interest in that gorgeous Norwegian babe's chest area, of course.

Morgan Lake comes into the Hept HJ at 1.80, clears first time.

Mark Dry improves his third hammer throw to 71.96, it isn't quite enough, so only 13th. World Champ Pawel Fajdek was down to compete, but like Michael Rimmer seems to have considered the event not worth his trouble.

Tell a lie, seems that Fajdek did participate and qualify - i'm afraid that either the online scoring isn't working properly or I'm not reading it right. Can't make head or tail of what is happening in the high jump, but Morgan Lake might be the only person still in it at 1.83 and rising.

Over at 1.86.

Morgan over at 1.89 second time! Has the whole stadium to herself.

No I'm sure Carl Lewis considers Beamon & Powell's World Records as flukes.

Morgan finishes at 1.89 for 1093 points, 120 more than anyone else.

So Morgan right back up to third, only 12 points off Anouk Vetter in the lead!

Off we go again with some blethering. Morgan Lake starts again in the Hep Shot, on PBs this should be a decent event for her.

First throw - 13.24 SB.

Sophie Hitchon in the hammer 70.91 3=

Sophie HItchon 71.74 in the hammer up into Silver behind Wlodarczyk!!!!

Morgan does not improve in the shot third round so only 743 points will lose a lot of places.

Good qual for Sarah MacDonald in the 1500.
Gavitar
08-07-2016
Good job, Sarah McDonald. Through to the 1500 final. Got in trouble with 200 to go but managed to get herself out of bother with a nice little spurt in the last 100.

Poor race by Melissa Courtney in Heat 1, eighth over 5 seconds down on Hassan. The last 800 up front was run in 2:07 so it wasn't blisteringly hot. All the fastest losers came from Heat 2.

The field catches up on Hitchon, back to a more realistic 3rd now.

Elliot Giles looks to have qualified, subject to the refs. Plainly had lots of running left but was in a bad spot.

Morgan Lake back down to 10th, Nana Djimou leads.
Gavitar
08-07-2016
Terrific race by Elliott Giles to get into the final. Just a tenth outside his PB. It was a smart tactic to sit on Tuka's shoulder and try and stay with him.

Sophie Hitchon now down to 4th: Will take a PB to medal.

Very good run for Danny Talbot in the 200m, wins his heat 20.37 SB.

Sophie putting together a great series all 5 throws 70+

Oh, dear, Mitchell-Blake, not all that sensational 20.46, gets in as lucky loser.

Sophie finishes 4th again. A great performance, but she needs to find another 3 metres if she is to medal at this level.

Saving himself maybe - be risky now and will be in an outside lane...

Are these the guys battling for one or two spots to Rio?
Edward_Sloley
08-07-2016
Bruno Hortelano won that third semi with a 20.39 (-1.1m/s) NR; Solomon Bockarie ran the same time for a PB.
Edward_Sloley
08-07-2016
Stella Akakpo RT 0.096 (yet another marginal false start!)

First semi - Schippers in 10.96 (-1.0m/s), Philip in 11.37 (that time was within Akakpo's range so she's fortunate)

Oooh, decent start for Dafne but as soon as she unwound...presuming that is moeder en vader.
