The 'former-[nation] now running for Turkey' does make for a good drinking game to ease the pain though. |

I guess you either have no idea what human trafficking is or you are trying to bait me. Lets get back to the sport and leave the back stabbing to other forums

Good effort by Rob Mullett in 6th. A funeral march in the first kilometre put paid to him getting his second sub-8:30 Olympic qualifier though.

Well, the French have obviously perfected the art of brain transplants because Mekhissi now looks reasonable and sportsmanlike.

What are you on about? They are moving as economic migrants or to improve their chances of competing in major championships. I have seen no evidence of coercion or that they have been forced to change country, but you clearly have.

Well, despite the 10k, that was a terrific evening of athletics. Well done to everyone in Amsterdam. They even managed to stave off the rain from those threatening clouds.

Israel's Ethiopians are Ethiopian Jews who moved to Israel because they were being persecuted in their homeland, not because they were great athletes. Naturally, some of them are better long distance runners than their compatriots.

IAAF needs to do something about the nation hopping. Just waving a white flag is pathetic. At least introduce some boundaries/guidelines. I'd suggest the following:-
i) Once you reach senior level you can only represent 1 country as per the likes of Football & Rugby. Easily policed ii) Unless you are born in a country or have automatic citizenship from birth e.g. via your parents then you need to have been resident in that country for 5 years. This would reduce a lot of nation hopping to those who hand out Citizenship at the drop of a hat but also allow for those who moved to a country when younger |

Back to the US Olympic trials - top three in the women's 100mH were (windspeed +1.2m/s):
Rollins 12.34 (despite RT 0.200!) Castlin 12.50 Ali 12.55 Neither Harrison nor Harper-Nelson made the team. Another notable shock was Shamier Little failing to qualify for the women's 400mH final. |

Remember you can get Eurosport Player on a one-month deal, might be worth it for the three evening sessions this weekend. It's turning out to be a much better champs than we were anticipating. Apart from the long distance events, everyone has sent pretty much their A teams.
Or hopefully the live streams will be ungeoblocked later.

Great evening of T&F. Nice to see big Daf win on home turf.
![]() Not a fan of this new concept of having the medal ceremonies outside/elsewhere from the stadium. I know some on here prefer it as it doesn't interupt the flow of events, but when Tiff got her medal earlier there were just a handful of people standing about watching it. Bet none of them even watched the medallists win their medals. I much prefer it in the stadium with a full crowd standing for the anthem. It seems very detached this way. Hope they don't do this in Rio. |
