Not a fan of this new concept of having the medal ceremonies outside/elsewhere from the stadium. I know some on here prefer it as it doesn't interupt the flow of events, but when Tiff got her medal earlier there were just a handful of people standing about watching it.

So today's events start at 12:00 with a short session of mainly field event prelims and 4x400 qualifiers. Then another big evening of finals starting at 17:45.

Don't know why it's labelled as a CB since Arthur Abele clocked 13.55 (+0.5m/s) in Zürich 2014.

Or British as in the case of Antonio Infantino. I have no issues with people like him choosing to represent a different country where there are clear family links. Lots of Brits post Brexit are exploring similar options to obtain passports & retain EU citizenship.
Nation hopping for money when you have no ties to that country is a joke and makes a mockery of international competition. Fionnula McCormack who finished 4th in the 10K last night has been vocal in her criticism of the nation hoppers. |

Eliot Giles gets easily through in the first round of the 800m. 1:50 odds Another one to be a bit lucky with his positioning.
Fiona May shows off her Paxman-like interviewing skills again. |

As long as she doesn't beat our Steph to a medal. I won't be able to forgive her if she does.
![]() They hadn't decided last night if she would actually run. They might have done now but don't know yet

Kallur run of it, that's be it for the Olympics.
Anders Thorkildsen looks like he has retired into a life of looting, pillaging and generally being a scourge of the high seas. NM for Rachel Wallader in the first round of the shot. She'd pretty much need a PB to get to the last 8. Isabelle Pedersen of Norway was devastated after missing final. She also MIGHT be in rio though Andreas is apparently a bit of a dck |

Hendrik Ingebritsen now has to nip across town for a gig with his Queen Tribute Band at the Melkweg this evening.
That moustache is horrible. No idea why he wears it... |

"Rule 163.2 any competing runner or walker who jostles or obstructs another competitor so as to impede his progress shall be liable to
disqualification from that event." I'm not surprised Holusa has been DQ'd, he seems to push and shove in almost every race I've seen him in - I seem to remember Lee Emanuel himself being pushed by Holusa at the 2014 World Indoors which cause Lee to crash out in the heats too. We can easily have two Norwegian medals

Useless fact of the day - In the heptathlon, Grit Sadeiko of Estonia is Brianne T-E's training partner. Brianne was fed up of chasing Ashton in training so she put out some feelers to the 'heptathlon community' and Sadeiko took it up.
Cool! |

Back to the US Olympic trials - top three in the women's 100mH were (windspeed +1.2m/s):
Rollins 12.34 (despite RT 0.200!) Castlin 12.50 Ali 12.55 Neither Harrison nor Harper-Nelson made the team. Another notable shock was Shamier Little failing to qualify for the women's 400mH final. Why did she change her name to Keni? More surprised about DHN. I said before, even if US in theory could almost have 8 finalists in rio, anything can happen, and you expect at least one of them to fck up before final

Some other thoughts.
1 very happy about sirmais. Had a 2 EUR bet on him to win ![]() 2 what happened with sintnicolaas? He stopped running 1500 but apparently started again since he got a result? And why did he stop in e first place? 3 loved kiltys reaction after DQ 4 so happy about MMB. love him. The way they took away his gold in ZRH was just lame. For now

Not surprised about Harrison. You kinda saw it coming.

I saw her semifinal (in atrocious monsoon-like conditions) but thought she'd be right back on track in the final. |

It'll probably take a big PB, sub 1:46 (his best is 1:47.2) though he did look as if he has that in him. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 1:45-low to medal. Not sure if he has that in him yet.

I think it's always been what her family calls her (she's one of 11 adopted kids in her family!)
Massive surprise to me that she didn't even make the top 3. I saw her semifinal (in atrocious monsoon-like conditions) but thought she'd be right back on track in the final. I think all the pressure got to her. I can't see her make rio even if I think US have sometimes interfered with the top 3? |

Ivona Dadic (AUT) going very well in the Hep. Looks to be well on course to get the 6200 Olympic standard that she missed by 4 points in Gotzis.
