On the other hand it means that the action just keeps coming in the stadium which is definitely a good thing. Remember how frustrating it was for field event athletes when they were constantly being interrupted mid-competition by 5 minute ceremonies.. Perhaps they could do them in a bunch at the beginning of the session.
It worked well for the World Indoors as the venue for the Ceremonies had other entertainment like Live Music to attract the crowds. Perhaps that is not the case here. It has worked well for a while at Winter Olympics too.

Also for events like World Indoors which lasts 3 days & these Europeans which are 5 days the number of events in a condensed programme mean the ceremonies can take up a big chunk of time. There were 11 finals last night which would have added about an hour to the programme. At Worlds & Olympics where events are spread out over 9/10 days they take up much less time overall each session.

Norwegian girl apparently not running 5000 so placed small bet on twell and McColgan to medal and also win hahaha
Whoaaa! Steady on!

Shame for Grovdal but she must be happy. The 10/5 double is always tough at the Euros because of the quick turnaround. Having said that the "Turk", Yasemin Can, might have enough in hand to win gold again.

Ah ok.
I think all the pressure got to her. I can't see her make rio even if I think US have sometimes interfered with the top 3?
USA are always strict about top 3. Stars like Michael Johnson have been victim of this in the past. There is no other option unless they want to invite a shed load of lawsuits.

More carnage, Shamier Little didn't qualify for 400 hurdles. Lashawn Merritt looked good in 200 semis, Gatlin unconvincing finishing 2nd in his semi which means he's in lane 8 for the final. Just when you think you might get rid of 1 drug cheat from the 200 it looks like Merritt will make the team instead

Anouk Vetter lands crucial PB in last jump of the LJ, in a tight battle with Nana Djimou for the gold - could come down to the 800m.

Depends if kuipers or anyone sets pace maybe?
I've never seen Kupers not front-run a race but maybe he has different tactics to shock us all in the final. I rather feel though that he's pretty much a certainty to make an all-or-nothing glory bid in front of his home crowd.

Right, GBR women up in the 4x400 - Doyle, Adeoye, Massey & Bundy-Davis.

Turks obviously don't much care about the 4x400 because the team looks to be all-Turkish, therefore probably rubbish.

And indeed Turks are in danger of being lapped. Stroll in the park for GBR girls.

GBR Time 3:36:42 EL.

Yeah, it was more like it would be annoying to put money on them to medal and then they actually win instead
Can is the big favourite but you never know and it's only been a few days since last race and standard otherwise not too impressive. Bahta's been injured a lot I think?

New NR for Norway. The old one was from 1991. And our two best girls weren't running.

We're actually doing incredibly well this year. Compared to the last few championships anyway...

Ah, so this morning is one of those sessions with not a lot going on.

Still, at least the American all or nothing qualification sparks some interest with its usual share of victims. These days however, I do question whether they have enough strength in depth (even in the sprints) to pull that off convincingly.

GBR fastest qualifiers, 3:26, not 3:36 as I said before. UKR & POL in 3:27.

Presumably she's doing World Juniors instead later this month?

GBR men go now - Yousif, Williams, Levine, Dunn.

Turks obviously taking this one more seriously, only one actual Turk in the team.

Turks have made the classic mistake of putting the only Turk on the lead-off leg, so are miles behind.

I'd be majorly shocked if she wasn't. Bukowiecki is doing both champs, so it's horses for courses.
Not surprised about Harrison. You kinda saw it coming.
Why did she change her name to Keni?
She didn't. It's shorthand for Kendra, I think.

Should do the 4x400 double at any rate, Belgium won the second heat in 3:03, although they are not quite at peak Borlee.

Heats and final of the 4x100 are tonight.

Anyway, there are a series of Paralympic races this afternoon, but they will be Eurosport Player only, because Tennis.

What happened to France? Couldn't see....
Their team should be good enough to medal normally?

I think the 4x100 finals are tomorrow same as the 4x400 finals.

Oh, you are right, just the heats today Tomorrow's coverage is going to be very much truncated, again because Tennis and Tour de France, so if you don't have Eurosport Player you might miss a lot . There's no coverage of the morning half marathons at all.

Guess I'll watch the Tennis then. I have Eurosport as part of my TV package so not forking out extra for the player

Easy qualification no drama for the 4x4 teams. Can see both golds going to the Brits with some new blood to come in like Hudson-Smith & Emily Diamond
