Here's the 80-strong list of athletes selected for Rio 2016.

The UKA website has crashed, which comes as no surprise whatsoever. [P.S. Is that where you copied the list from?]

^Yes, I went on straight away and copied it immediately as I thought something like this might happen

So pleased with this team, it's great!

So, Christine got the nod over Anyika. Could have argued either way.

Other than that only one glaring ommission jumps out at me ... Rhys Williams in the 400H. There's a spare spot there. He's got the 2 standards, finished 3rd in the trials and has just finished 5th in the European final. I think he'll feel very aggrieved.

Pleased that athletes like Rob Mullett have a place even though decisions like that do make a mockery of the selection policy.

Who knows, he may well win his appeal, he has a very strong case.

Also seems silly to leave an empty spot in the Women's 200 when Nelson and B Williams are both going as part of the relay anyway and both have the standard. Surely there'd be no harm in one of them running, who cares if they go out in the first round - are we really expecting every athlete going to make it through the first round?

Anyika Onuora beat Christine in Amsterdam, but I suppose Christine's record in majors won her the spot. Still, Anyika must be somewhat peeved.

Edit: Thanks for the list Fiercefanatic - you were quick off the mark!

The final place in that women's 400 trio was always tricky. Aniyka is never going to challenge for the top, but I still think Christine shot her final bolt in Moscow. Did we have any one else we could have sent?

Women's 100 squad is sound, but Jodie Williams in the 200m should count herself lucky. She's gone backwards since 2014, but we can hope Dina will find some speed and make the final. It's disappointing that we can't fill the third spot in the middle distances though.

However, the most important news is that, not only is our hero Michael Rimmer going, but Richard Kilty will be there too! If only to carry the luggage.

Not as long as Michael Rimmer and any Pole Vaulters are in the team, we're not. We only take them so the others won't feel lonely.

Andy Vernon too. I am sure the sight of him lumbering around two laps behind the leaders will be a sight to behold.

Overall happy with the team. Ohuorugu over Onuora not a dilemma for me. Can't ignore Chrissy's pedigree.

Alison Leonard could perhaps feel a little hard done by. No sympathy for Rhys Williams. He's had plenty of chances & never done a lot at Worlds/Olympics. He's not going to start now

I'm pleased with the team overall and particularly that Jo Pavy and Martyn Rooney are there. I'm surprised they haven't selected a third woman in the 200m though.

Hmm, sort of agree in that I'd probably take Christine based on champs experience. But it feels harsh on Onuora. We'll just have to hope that they both get their act together for the 4x400 . [goes off to watch Tokyo Dreams for the seventeeth-thousandth time]

I was vaguely aware that Andy Vernon had qualified for the team but I think I blocked it out of my head. I've got horrible visions of him pushing Mo over. But that may be something to do with super-strength cold medication

Sorry, I seem to have a bit of a case of 'I never shut up'...

But I'm a bit confused as to why you're putting those two selections together. Erm, didn't Rooney just become Euro champ?

ETA: sorry,I 'm an eejit, misread your post

I thought Richard Kilty said he was not going to the World Indoors in Portland to concentrate on the Olympics. Maybe he meant the to run the relays.

And chances of him actually getting a run out in the relay are somewhere between slim & none. Karma sure has bitten him on the bum this year.

It certainly has. I know it's not nice to crow, but I can't help it. The way he acted after the Beijing relay last year was awful.

Yes. Norwegian commentators thought they would use AMS like US trials.
On one hand Onuroa did better in AMS. She is younger, and could improve with experience from Rio, even is she is very unlikely to advance from semi.

CO improved quite a lot in AMS and if she continues the same way she could easily reach the final in Rio. To medal is gonna be hard regardless.
So depends if you wanna have an outside shot at a medal/top 6, or give experience to a young athlete who could medal in Tokyo...

Just realized she is 31. Then the experience argument kinda falls apart. At least she will have the relay

Anyone seeking results from the European Youth Championships can do so here.

Today marks the start of 10 days of 'juvenile' age-group championship athletics (with a day's gap in-between) as the U20 Worlds get underway on 19 July.

Don't worry Jimmy I feel exactly the same. Now if a certain American sprinter can false start in Rio....
