Rhys Williams is appealing his non selection but Alison Leonard isn't . Can't see it being successful myself these appeals rarely are. Discretionary picks are exactly that, they can pick whom they want.
A couple of interesting things on the team. At 80 it's actually slightly bigger than the team picked for London 2012 which was 77. The number of Scottish athletes picked at 15 is the largest since 1908. In contrast Seren Bundy-Davies is the only Welsh athlete. |

Queen Val claims a confidence-boosting win ahead of Schwanitz and Carter in the women's shot put with a 20.05m SB. It doesn't make her the favourite, but a successful defense of her Olympic title is not far-fetched.

Off we go in Monaco, very sombre mood. Monaco is only a couple of stops on the railway down from Nice.
Thing about Shamir Little is that she is still only a college athlete, so her whole season is completely the wrong way round. Good win for oor Eilidh, new PB. Building a decent lead in the Diamond League as well, which is always worth having. Not many Brits have ever won it. |

Mrs. Doyle went large.
Wasn't sure charging out that first 200m was working for her as the season progressed.

If she gets her stride pattern right (she lost a little momentum on the second curve), Doyle can break 54 seconds in Rio, which should be worth a medal. |

Rimmertime!
Puts on a masterful display in not getting boxed by running the whole race in the fourth lane. Kszczot needs to study the Jackson dip. |

Officials look like they are on day release from prison.

Rimmer's running in to just outside fastest loser position form nicely.

Incidentally, the thing that always amuses me about Monaco is that the country does not even extend to the top of the cliffs, only about halfway up.. So Olympic 400m final looks like being a showdown between van Niekerk and Martyn Rooney, then. |

Will Kiprop break the WR in tonight's 1,500m? Will Mo do another sub-3:30?

Apparently not - the sequence of lightning fast 1500s at Monaco is broken.
Ronald Kwemoi won it with a 3:30.49 SB; Mo Farah 3:31.74 SB; Charlie Grice 3:33.60 PB. There was also a 3:33.36 NR for Jakub Holusa. |

Pretty strong field for the women's 100m. Bit too soon for Henry post-Amsterdam?
Marie Josée Ta-Lou jumped the gun... |

Thought Nike made a bit of a mess of the 1500m there by allowing a couple of their athletes to wear a different shirt from everyone else. Would have been a lot more convenient for both commentators and spectators if all the athletes were identically dressed. And people wonder why public interest is down!

Orlando Ortega wins the men's 110mH in 13.04 (0.0m/s) SB (also a NR, I think).
Dimitri Bascou 13.12 PB, PML 13.17 SB; Omar McLeod made a complete hash of it. |

Next on the track - the women's/intersex 800m. Another WL in the works?

Caster almost showed us her guns there, then remembered the role she was supposed to be playing. Still, her chest is now a tribute to the skills of South African cosmetic surgeons. Not since the golden age of Baywatch have we seen boobs that bounce like that when someone is running.
