The spectators in Bydgoszcz are certainly getting their money's worth.

In the 6kg shot final, Konrad Bukowiecki threw it 22.46m (CR) in the first round, then 23.34m (WJR) in the third round!! Andrei Toader of Romania also broke the old CR with 22.30m (NJR) in the second round.

Looks like some of the WU20Ch field finals have been changed as well - 3 rounds for all 12+ finalists, then a final round for the top 6.

The fairest compromise would probably be to allow the other athletes to artificially match Semenya's testosterone levels, but then that would expose the ludicrous distinctions between "natural" advantage and "cheating".
The health risks of taking anabolic steroids are too great to allow this and it would mean that women would feel compelled to take them to compete. Obviously there are concerns that this is already happening in some sports illegally.

Why do the IAAF keep p****** about with field events like this. Konrad may have thrown further with another 2 throws, something the locals would have liked to watch no doubt.

Tonight's men's 10,000m final was the fastest in WU20Ch history.

Rodgers Kwemoi (KEN) won it with a 27:25.23 CR/PB; Aron Kifle (ERI; 27:26.20 NJR) and Jacob Kiplimo (UGA; 27:26.68 PB) also beat the old CR. Interestingly, those times are quicker than what Mo clocked to win the Olympic title, though times across races of that distance are not strictly comparable.

No Ethiopian on that podium, but there was for the women's 10,000m race walk...

The full sessions of the Euro Champs are all archived for replay at http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/eaa/ (they're now unblocked for UK users.)

Alternatively, to watch just selected events, all the track events and some field events are at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq5...1fgg/playlists (all but 3 or 4 are the British Eurosport coverage.)
Cheers. just spent an interesting weekend and a bit catching up on the Euro's, USA olympic trials (Allyson Felix in the 400 ) and the Jamacian trials (that men's 100 and Tori Bowie in the women's )

I'd take a punt on Adam Peaty. His profile is still low pre games but I think he's potentially our greatest ever male swimmer. He's not going to bottle it like some swimmers have in the past. He'll win golds and probably break a world record and come out of the games a household name like Becky Adlington.
If Chris Froome can win his third Tour this week (and second back-to-back) he's got to be another under-the-radar shout surely? Especially as he showed determination and a turn of speed off the bike that Dame Kelly Holmes would be proud of Actually, could take a real risk and lay him E/W now.....

WvN is one of the most yummiest guys out there.
I hope he can win the 400.
I guess he is good looking in a feminine sort of way (not jealous much, honest) but I didn't realise that he had such good times over all three sprints. I think his times are some kind of record - though if Usain ever takes the 400 seriously it won't stand for long.

Thanks for the explanations and link (Jaccobabe, Jo09, robo2, Evo102 and grassmarket)

I do understand it all a lot better now. No idea what the answer is, but at least I now understand the facts.

Rio shall be interesting to say the least - especially in the 400m.
Here is an article on the situation that I instantly bookmarked as soon as I read it. Bit long but very humane.

It's a pity there's no live TV coverage in Bydgoszcz at the moment, but Imani Lanisquot must have gone full bore to clock an 11.17 (+1.7m/s) PB in her 100m heat. That's just 3 hundredths off Dina's NJR.

11.10 (+2.7m/s) for Ewa Swoboda in the following heat, so not a CR (currently 11.12 (+2.0m/s) by VCB at Santiago de Chile 2000).

Not sure if I mentioned this, but there was an interview with Stepanova durign AMS where she said something like "many people told her it was impossible to run under 2.00 on 800 without doping, but she thought it could be done"

So according to her, almost everyone is cheating.

Some of these US sprinters are getting a bit of a rude awakening.

W 3000 ... If Kate Murphy (USA) is 40m within the lead at the bell, watch out. She has a blazing kick. I've seen her run some incredible last laps in 1500 races, close to 61s, coming from way back.

Nah, never in contention ... Still only 16 though and a 4:07 girl.

Beyenu Degefa (ETH) takes it in 8:41.76, which is a CR, WJL and PB. NJR for both Dalila Abdulkadir Gosa (BRN; 8:46.42) and Konstanze Klosterhalfen (GER; 8:46.74).

And now Kaul steals the junior decathlon victory with a WJR score of 8162! The score for sixth place was 7795...!

Furthermore, he's still a junior through 2017.

As a bonus for the home crowd, Klaudia Maruszewska threw the javelin 57.59m (PB) in the first round to become their second champion.

Is this the exact same events as the seniors or somewhat different (ex shot put, javelin?)

Also, amazing Tortu takes the silver in 100 behind some American. I saw him in AMS and was might mighty impressed. Think he could be one of the fastest Europeans ever

Ah ok. Still impressive. Is he going Rio?
Too young probably, though would be great experience...

Just a reminder, BBC Schedule for the weekend. Seven whole hours of coverage, it's going to be an epic bletherfest! Previews, reviews, interviews, montages, pre-race build-up, post race analysis, the BoltDown clock, RimmerTime, Dai Greene working the big giant touch screen thing, Gabby and Colin shoving athletes out of the way at the start, more time spent showing Coe v Ovett in Moscow 1980 than Rudisha v Kszszot in London 2016, presenters ignoring events that are actually going on behind them - they are going to pull out the full repertoire of twenty-first century dumbed-down coverage.. In fact, there is so much coverage scheduled there may even be time for more than one throw in the shot putt.

And the official timetable and start lists

Hurrah! Now let us see either a complete national ban (preferred) or at the very minimum a similar ban for swimming, canoeing, cycling and other sports where this method was used.
