It's always struck me as strange that the Under 20 (formerly known as the Juniors) decathletes use the lighter implements and lower hurdles while at the same event the heptathletes use the "grown up" ones.

Forecasts suggest London will have a warm weekend (mid-20s Celsius) with sunny spells and the threat of occasional showers.

Ah ok. Still impressive. Is he going Rio?
Too young probably, though would be great experience... That reminds me - although I labelled it as such earlier, his score of 8162 technically isn't a WJR. That's because the shorthand in question is linked to Torsten Voss of East Germany (as it was then), who scored an eye-popping 8397 in 1982 with senior implements (!!) as junior implements weren't available at the time. Even the great Daley Thompson 'only' scored 8082 (in 1977) as a junior. |

He'd need 8100 in the decathlon proper, and the qualification window is closed anyway.

Just a reminder, BBC Schedule for the weekend. Seven whole hours of coverage, it's going to be an epic bletherfest! Previews, reviews, interviews, montages, pre-race build-up, post race analysis, the BoltDown clock, RimmerTime, Dai Greene working the big giant touch screen thing, Gabby and Colin shoving athletes out of the way at the start, more time spent showing Coe v Ovett in Moscow 1980 than Rudisha v Kszszot in London 2016, presenters ignoring events that are actually going on behind them - they are going to pull out the full repertoire of twenty-first century dumbed-down coverage.. In fact, there is so much coverage scheduled there may even be time for more than one throw in the shot putt.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/34214296 And the official timetable and start lists http://london.diamondleague.com/lists_results_london/ ![]() I shall record the whole lot in order to skip through all the yakking. |

Drama in the men's 400m semis - Baboloki Thebe won his semi in 44.67, just a hundredth outside the CR...only to be disqualified for a lane infringement!

Angelica Moser wins the women's pole vault with a 4.55m CR!
Men's 1,500m - has to be photofinish of the champs, surely?! XD |

Well, there's no way some of these guys are under 20. The Ethiopian who took the silver in the 1500m was practically bald.

Hill wins the women's 100m in 11.07 (+0.9m/s), a CR and WJL; about the same as in Cali 2015, albeit without altitude assistance this time.
Swoboda clocked an 11.12 NJR and St Fort completes the podium in 11.18. ----- Incidentally, here's that photofinish from the men's 1,500m.

Bingham went out early at the UK trials but competed at Lufbra last weekend in the 400 hurdles (51.94s), so a change of event could be on the cards for him. |

Going by POT, Shana competed in the States earlier in the year but nothing since, so I assume she is injured.

Those Bingham results are from 2015, he hasn't raced at all this year.

Michael Johnson in the house for the BBC at the Olympic Stadium! Don't remember him being on coverage of a Diamond League event before.

These pole vaulters need to show Michael Johnson some more respect. How dare they jump up and down over bars while Michael is talking!
And now they've gone and ruined it! 25 minutes of glorious chat, and now we've got a whole lot of foreigners with hard to pronounce names running around the track? Who cares about that? |

Quality performance from GB in the relay, British record. FWIW 41.81 would have been good enough for bronze at London 2012.

Even with some "steady" changeovers that's a serious chunk out of the British record.
