Really pedestrian times in the men's 100m given that everyone else has shown this track is crazy fast.
May be it's pre Olympics angst as Colin said. The 100m looks open this year.

Rob is a commentator. He doesn't usually do trackside interviews. Perhaps someone dropped out?!
Where's Ortis?

It's OK, Rob, just speak s-l-o-w-l-y and LOUDLY when you are interviewing French people, that's the secret. They are only pretending not to understand!

I believe Rob Walker (like others) is a freelancer for several sports - he's been an athletics commentator for Channel 4 in Daegu 2011 and the IAAF (or a sub-contractor) in various World Athletics Series events.

Yes he's a general sports commentator and he's good at that. Has done athletics. Perhaps he was roped into this job because Phil's on his pre-Olympics leave.

I think most sports commentators are freelance these days. They hop from channel to channel.

Truly, yes. So bad that not only diid Channel 4 yank him from the coverage four days into the Games, but afterwards they completely abandoned all coverage of athletics at all.

Not a great run by Bolt. Still wonder if he should have retired after last year.
