Team GB a bit rubbish at the World Juniors at the moment - 0 Gold, 0 Silver, 0 Bronze. Still a couple of days to go.

Oh dear - mind you we've had a number of great prospects winning Youth titles but getting no-where after turning professional..

And with perfect timing, Callum Wilkinson has become world junior 10,000m race walk champion!
Yes, GB has a global race-walking champion!! (Never thought I'd be typing those words anytime soon, even for an age-group comp; he's our first at any level since Ken Matthews won the 20km Olympic title at Tokyo 1964.) 40:41.62 WJL for the win (and I think a NJR too). |

Just noticed one of the Kenyans (silver medallist in women's 5,000m) goes by 'Emmaculate Chepkirui'. Unfortunately she didn't live up to her name.
![]() ----- Looking back at Keni Harrison's virtuoso hurdling, I've belatedly learned that she currently leads the Diamond Race by a fair margin. If she wins it, she can return to Stratford for next year's World Championships without having to finish in the top 3 at the US Champs. |

Dirty casual here peeping in before the Olympics!
Why no women's 5k or men's 10k at the anniversary games? Is it just too close? |

The only Diamond League meet that does a men's 10,000m race before the July/August 'championship window' is Eugene, and I don't think any DL meet does both 5,000m races.
Speaking of which, today's men's 5,000m field isn't the strongest, quelle surprise - though Bernard Lagat (at the age of 41!) might be good competition for Mo as he ran 13:35 (inc. sub-53 last lap) to win at the US Olympic Trials. |

Apparently she dipped low enough to 'dodge' the beam, so the flash result was actually for Rollins. It wasn't a dip worthy of CJ...then again, Harrison isn't 6ft.

The women's 4x100 quartet has come a long way in 4 years.
They didn't even qualify for the Olympic heats last time round (thanks to a lane infringement in the ECh heats IIRC), and then at the 2013 LAG they broke 42.7 for the first time in 12 years. 4 NRs later, they've joined the sub-42 club and are just outside the top 5 nations in all-time rankings. An Olympic bronze medal could be won without relying on another team's screw up. |

Today's IPC Athletics GP Final has started with a bang - Richard Whitehead wins the men's T42 200m with a 23.03 (-0.1m/s) WR!
That's a full second and change quicker than what he did in Doha last year.

Fantastic run by Libby Clegg, seems the new partnership with Chris Clarke is going very well, a good move for both of them

Both GBR teams sub-38!!
GBR A 37.78 WL! GBR B 37.81! Had Ujah actually run a fast anchor leg, the AR (37.73 from Seville 1999) would be gone. |

The B team was Kilty - HAA - Talbot - Edoburun.
The A team was Dasaolu - Gemili - Ellington - Ujah. |

Andy Pozzi wins the first 110mH heat with a 13.19 (-0.8m/s) PB.
![]() Let's hope his body holds for the final later on. |

It's top 3 in Jamaica as well but the selectors reserve the right to kick one of them out and replace them with one of their stars who didn't do the trials. That's how Bolt is going as he didn't run the finals in the trials.

If KJT could win the gold in Rio she would be set up for life which her tall elegant looks. Marketers dream! Articulate too but needs to reduce the Scouser element!

Well, long time thread favourite Andy Pozzi get his PB in to slightly more respectable territory. He looked pretty smooth.
I might have to start paying attention to him at this rate. |

Somewhat messy 13.28 (-0.4m/s) for Dimitri Bascou in the second heat.
Men's 400m boasts no fewer than 4 Brits. Conditions are great for the sprinters, so I expect MHS to go well under 45 seconds today. |

Oof Eilidh made a right dogs dinner of that last hurdle.

She looked like a horse in showjumping that didn't fancy a jump on that last hurdle.

Well, that didn't quite live up to the build-up, did it?

Oh dear, I think Martyn Rooney false started...and he's DQd.
That said, the applause for the long jump seems perfectly timed... |

45.03 for MHS. Was expecting a few tenths quicker, but at least he won.
6.19m (0.0m/s) for JEH in the long jump...should have jumped further, but it may well be a mere blip. |
