It's that time of year again! This is the fifth year of the competition, and to celebrate it, I'm doing absolutely sod all new - the format is pretty much a blueprint of last year, except instead of the record breaking 73 characters that we had participate last year, we've got a new record breaking number of 75! 
In 2012, David won Charity by just 10 points.
In 2013, Nicola won Cain by just two points.
In 2014, Nicola won Cain again by just nine points.
In 2015, Ross won Cain by just five points.
The competition has always been close, and I expect nothing else this year!

Quite a few cast changes this year - we've said goodbye to lots of long term characters who have fared well in this competition over the years. Unfortunately, we must say goodbye to them all over again as once you're out of the show, you're out of the competition:
It's out with the old and in with the new, as we welcome nine new characters to the competition:
The rules are simple:
75 characters will battle it out to become our Favourite Emmerdale Character. 36 of the 75 characters will go through to Round 2. All heats have been drawn at random. You must simply rank the characters below from your favourite to least favourite. Your favourite will receive 11 points, your second favourite 10 points, and so on, with your least favourite receiving just one point. If you mistakenly miss a character out, I will notify you via PM to correct your mistake, otherwise your vote won't count, so please double check your post before submitting. The five characters with the most votes in each heat will go through to Round 2.
