I got a Nespresso machine for Christmas, after previously owning a Tassimo and I'm pretty impressed with the coffee and the Aeroccino that it came with.

Any fans on here? If so, what sort of drinks do you make with it?

I'm a latte fan and I find that if I fill the milk up close to the "max" line in the Aeroccino, I need to two use two capsules to make it as strong as I like it. Alternatively, I can just use less milk and use one capsule.

I've been trying the different capsules from the taster pack that came with the machine and I can't notice a massive difference in taste to be honest. I tried a lungo with a bit of hot milk, which tasted quite good, but I think I'll stick with the espresso capsules from now on.

We have a Lattissima model we got over year ago when it was on offer and are very happy with it and it makes very good coffee. You can vary how much milk it uses, it is a bit fiddly to do but once you've done it that is it. We drink mostly cappuccino and espresso, they have loads of different flavours but we tend to stick with Roma, Rosabaya de Columbia and Dulsao do Brasil.

Nespresso have a deal on at the mo if you buy a machine whereby you get up to £75 club reward which is £25 off 3 orders of capsules.

Writing this has made me hanker after a cup and it is a horrid day so off to make one.

Yes, we got one as well. We are working our way through the taster pack and my wife (who is the coffee drinker really) has been trying to decide which ones she likes. I just had an instant coffee instead this morning - it tasted really weak!

Once we have spent the £75 offer we might try the cheaper capsules from other suppliers, although some people have had problems with them sometimes apparently.

I use mine exclusively for decaff Arpeggio cappuccino. Caffeinated gives me headaches, and if you drink decaff then there's really not a lot of choice. It turns out that I like the fat and the sugar (and the alcohol) as much as the coffee anyway.

I've pretty much decided on Roma as my main capsule so I've just been adding 2 random espressos from the taster capsules to my steamed milk each time.

I love the coffee, but their marketing is a bit pretentious with its "coffee menu" and "grand cru" branding. I honestly can't really detect a difference between the coffee I've had so far, but if I was drinking it as neat espresso with no milk then maybe I would.

I've also heard that the cheaper capsules cause issues with Nespresso machines, but I wonder if that's just to put you off buying them. However, I don't even think they're much cheaper. The ones i saw in M&S were £3 for a box of 10. Most capsules on the Nespresso site are around 30p each, so if you ignore P&P, the official capsules don't set you back more.


One of the perks of coffee for me is the caffeine! However, if you do like decaf I agree the choice is pretty limited. I guess decaf just isn't that popular potentially for the reason I just stated - i.e. the pick me up factor.

I've applied for the £75 offer and am waiting for the first £25 to be credited to my account. I missed out on the free delivery on 50 capsules as that offer ran out on 31 December: is it the sort of offer they do regularly?

In the meantime we have bought some capsules by Taylor from Morrisons (10 for £3) so no cheaper than Nespresso but without postage. (We should have gone to Sainsburys - £2 for 10).

No matter what users of the lesser machines try to convince you, Nespresso is the best.

They had a deal recently for Free Delivery on any spend over £25 or 50 capsules, I cant remember - I got the 5 sleeve seasonal selection and two boxes of chocs.

Anyone had any experience of dealing with the Nespresso Club? Our machine has started to mangle the capsules rather than opening them - very frustrating when you are expecting a cup of coffee and all you get is a cup of hot water.

Thing is, while Nespresso markets itself as a "luxury" brand with its grand crus and posh coffee boutiques, the price when compared to other capsule machines is about the same.

You can get Nespresso machines for £70 and the capsules aren't more than Tassimo, Dolce Gusto, etc.

Yes thank you. I had a long chat with a very patient lady who ran through several different set-ups with me and gave me a few tips. I am not sure whether anything we did together actually made a difference to the machine, but it does seem to work OK now.

The cheap offer for Taylor capsules is not available at present, but I now have the first 200 order from Nespresso to use my first £25 voucher. The capsules work out at 17p each like this, so pretty good.

We got one a couple of weeks ago and we absolutely love it. We're still going through the selection that came with it at the moment. I usually put two pods into some hot milk, but I also love the vanilla flavoured one as a neat espresso. The milk heater and frother is brilliant.

Agreed re the Aeroccino. I like how it doesn't make it too frothy - just right.

I don't use the spring as I know that makes far too much foam.

I can't fathom why Nespresso isn't stocked in supermarkets. I'm sure a lot of people would buy a Tassimo over a Nespresso machine just because they can get coffee much more easily.

Nespresso probably make even more money from being the exclusive supplier of the capsules than they do from the machines. They want to promote the exclusive nature of their product and not have to be involved with supermarkets, who would want to discount it.

At least there are alternative suppliers now who are worth a try to see if you like their coffees especially if you can get them at a lower price. I like the Taylors ones and may use them once we've used our £75 vouchers from Nespresso.

I've placed another order with them but I'm not sure if I'll be in to sign for it. It's a shame they don't have more Nespresso shops.
