Saw a good definition the other day

'Horse Sense' - that thing that horses have that stops them betting on people

Just got in in time to see Minding do the business

Lots of trouble in running but won decisively

Well done on Minding winning the Oaks

I wonder if it is possible she could run at Royal Ascot or maybe later on and go for the St Leger instead to try and achieve the Fillies triple crown

Minding looks the best of her generation as the 3yo colts look a tad ordinary with a 20-1 outsider, Alamanzor, claiming the French Derby.

Another Frankel 'first' tomorrow

The first home bred for Khalid Abdullah, so the first to run in the green, pink and white silks as worn by Frankel himself, runs in the 2.40 at Haydock - Fair Eva.

Currently 6/4 Fav

I know it's very early days and won't mean much in the long run but the three Frankel runners so far have certainly kept the interest up for what might be coming. Even the one that didn't win, Majoris, was interesting, as he missed the break and was at the back but still ran on well.

I know it's very early days and won't mean much in the long run but .....................
I remember yeas ago not long after I'd got into racing I decided to follow the Dancing Brave offspring and I made lists and noted all their runs etc..................

But they turned out to be pretty useless* and Dancing Brave was shipped off to the far east

The only one I remember now was because of the name................Dancing Brave out of Shorthouse and named Lowawatha................

* he did sire a Derby winner in Commander in Chief

Another interesting note is that Frankel's stud fee is £125,000...................Dancing Brave's was £120,000 thirty years ago !

Fair Eva another impressive winner and another Frankel lookalke !

Interesting tomorrow......there's another Frankel running at Haydock called Frankuus

On the plus side the 7F races for 2yo are now underway and the ones we've seen so far look like 7F would suit

On the possible negative side this one is described as a grey and I notice that his damsire is Linamix who churns out grey horses

Does that mean he takes more after Linamix rather than Frankel ?......

Another winner from Frankel and at decent odds of 4/1
Not sure about the antics at the start but hopefully just a bit of nerves and "greenness"

I think a lot of punters would have been very happy getting paid out at 4/1 !

There was a lot of money for the Godolphin horse who never featured and finished 6th. He went off 7/4 F and Frankuus ended up drifting out to 3rd Fav by race time

I was a bit surprised to see I got 4/1 for it as I got 7/4 on Bet365 the night before, but I'm not complaining

Hayley Turner got an OBE in the recent Honours list

Not that I really believe in all that but I'm pleased she got something................what a smashing girl !

Royal Ascot only two days away. Surely Day One of the Meeting is the best single day's racing on Earth..................

Three group ones makes it the best day and the St James' Palace is the pick of the day with three 2,000 Guineas winners in the field and Emotionless on the come back trail for Godolphin.

I probably sound like a bit of an old curmudgeon but one thing that is diminishing Royal Ascot for me is all these Overseas Runners that they're desperate to entice every year

As soon as you have Overseas Runners (I'm not counting Ireland and France) near the head of the market in any race it becomes an automatic non betting event for me........time is too short to start worrying about US or Australian or Japanese form. I just skip the race and look at something else

I know it's good for the World Game to have International competition and it's great prestige for the meeting to attract the top overseas stars but it ruins it as a betting proposition.......

(although having said that.........I can't even remember the last time I had a bet on a Royal Ascot race as I very rarely bet on races with more than 6 or 7 runners)

I bet tepin. 6/1 looked a good price, I thought.

Good winner.

I stopped watching, or I would have bet Galileo gold as well. That was a fair price too.

I was surprised why a Breeders Cup mile winner was such a good price as it looked a rather ordinary field, she looks a real poppet and can run. I had a pretty good day as I backed her and couldn't see why The Gurkha was odds on so I had a bet on Galileo Gold and Profitable too. Today looks much trickier.

Hayley Turner coming out of retirement to take part in Shergar Cup day.

What a shocking call that is from everyone involved at Ascot. Should have given the opportunity to the up and coming and very talented apprentice Josephine Gordon instead.

IIRC it was another apprentice, Sammy Jo Bell, who stole the show last year (currently out injured).

Do they even engage their brains when they come out with these ideas? I mean will Hayley really be able to give the horses she's riding every possible chance when she's been out for so long?

Lessens the meeting more than anything, and I know plenty of racing fans avoid it like the plague from a betting point-of-view anyway.

Would there be a betting angle in bcking those horses at the meeting being ridden by a jockey that has previously been aboard the horse in a race? After all, all the races are handicaps and so in theory feature closely matched horses
