Barry Geraghty broke his arm at Market Rasen yesterday and is likely to be out until October

http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/n...t-market-rasen

Also , Hills doing an enhanced price on Richard Johnson to ride at least 2 winners at Newton Abott this afternoon of 11/4

Seems a good value bet

Another "Seeking Magic" type reversal at Ascot today with Namhroodah, first past the post under a flying Jamie Spencer, demoted to 3rd having interfered with the favourite Irish Rookie under Ryan Moore.

But splitting the pair was the Mark Prescott trained Red Box, not involved in the interference, which got promoted to 1st rather fortuitously, having only ran 3rd best theoretically.

The big surprise was perhaps the tiny 3 day ban for Spencer. Racing UK replayed the head on countless times and it was absolutely blatent from that what Spencer's intentions were, who manoeuvred right to prevent a staying on Irish Rookie getting to him inside the final furlong. Not just cynical in blocking Ryan off the way that he did, it was also downright dangerous. What kind of a deterrent is 3 days?

Check out the replay if you missed it and see what you think.

Impressive English trained winner of the group 2 race for 270 over in France this afternoon

Tis Marvellous (Clive Cox) streaked away from a quality looking field which had group races winners from France, UK and Italy

He won a class 5 Windsor maiden race last time out after finished 2nd at Newbury on debut

Very weak maiden but won easily. You have to have big concerns about some of the horses in behind!

The trainer's got previous to some extent with Pao De Acuca winning at 66/1 earlier this year.

If only I'd had the foresight to back all Jose Santos trained winners to level stakes this year, I could have saved myself an awful lot of effort trying to make money out of this game.

Surprised no one has been on yet to claim that they backed it.....

I did have a 150-1 winner (with reasoning) (SP was 100/1) a few years ago in the racing competition that I do but unfortunately I hadn't put any money on it !..........

Last night's 200/1 winner followed up by a 100/1 winner at tonight's Perth meeting

Huge successful gamble in the feature race at Galway with Creggs Pipes being backed from 14/1 to favourite

Would have been a nice double.....

Good day for gambles with Beau Satchel going in at Galway

Backed in from 12/1 to favourite and duly obliged winning the same race as he did last year carrying 3lb less

Monster gamble apparently well underway to being landed in Ireland with leg 2 of 3 for the Charles Byrnes / Davy Russell combination obliging nicely at Roscommon. All three horses were heavily supported from double digit odds overnight.

Final runner Top Of The Town runs at 8:05 and is now trading as short as 8/15.

Well done! I look forward to hearing the full extent of this tomorrow. Must have been some sizeable returns for those who took the early prices.

No doubt though this will be followed up by a false gamble in the coming days to entice punters off the back of this successful one, only next time the horses will flop miserably and it'll be a bookie benefit.

I had double figures on all three on Monday night, 16, 14 and 12. Put two of them together (I can't figure why I didn't put all three together )

What's this then, is the jockeys championship about to get interesting? Turns out Jim Crowley's giving up rides at York this week to ride at lesser meets in the hope of reducing Silvestre De Sousa's lead in the jockeys championship and have a real go at the title.

He's certainly riding better than ever so must have a chance if he can keep it going and his agent continues to get him the right mounts. Indeed his win aboard Pike Corner Cross (11/2fav) in the first at Kempton to reduce the deficit to 7 was a great ride, coming from last to first and making an awful lot of ground up in the straight having dropped the horse in from a bad draw.

Big ask for Crowley, but anything that stops the Jockey's Championship turning into an SdS coronation has to be a good thing.
The one thing that's always irritated me is the lack of information (or knowledge) - or is it just apathy - on ATR and RUK towards this. They might mention it in passing once a week or try and big it up towards the end of the season, but it should be much more in the public domain - not least how it works.
I've never really understood why EVERY Flat Turf race doesn't count, or EVERY Flat and AW race from Jan 1st to Dec 31st, rather than some convoluted mishmash of the middle of April to Champions Weekend or whatever the back-of-a-fag-packet rule is this season.

I suppose in fairness there hasn't been much to say in recent weeks with no clear challenger emerging to SDS, even though he went about 50 rides without a winner going into Goodwood.

The likes of James Doyle are always going to be held back a bit by their retainers and trying to build outside rides around that, Ryan Moore doesn't want it preferring to focus on quality rather than quantity and is out injured away, Luke Morris' win percentage is too low to trouble the principals and Adam Kirby's overachieved a bit to be still on their coat-tails for someone who can't do less than 9-0.

Crowley meanwhile is a credible challenger being a freelancer prepared to go anywhere in his quest for winners, his strike rate is excellent and crucially he has a very good agent in Tony Hind. Hopefully he can make it interesting and it would be good for racing if it could become competitive and get the attention of the media.

Whilst it's a bit much to expect there ever to be a repeat, I do wonder what effect the Seb Sanders / Jamie Spencer year could have had if it had happened a bit later. That was just before the social media boom so didn't punch through quite as well as it might have done, but it was still headline news on the day's main news bulletins and got plenty of other outside interest.

Completely agree with you on the length of the jockey championship, but it is what it is and it's not going to change, at least any time soon anyway.
