This has been bugging me for days.
Please you can help. Wasn't a documentary about the 1997 Melbourne Cup shown on Channel 4 in the early 2000s? I'm certain there was, if so what was the programme called? Congratulations to Frankie on his 3000th winner on Friday. |

Been quite well backed today. |

Salouen wins.......a messy race with no pace on
I'm afraid Deningy finished last after pulling the jockeys arms off as they crawled along and found nothing as they started to quicken |

Betting syndicates - do they work ?
I have never joined one but do get a few e mails regards them. The e mails are full of their successes and state an incredible return ratio. But if the one I get sent a lot ( Martyn Stevens ) is so damn good, why do they have to pester people to join them so much ? |

I suppose it's easy money for them. Better to have 1000 people sending you a tenner a month rather than trying to win 10K on the horses .....

I've never considered it myself........the 'fun' for me is in picking the winners like solving a crossword puzzle

There should be an enquiry into the running of Huntsmans close in the 2 30 at Leicester. He was the early morning fav then drifted out to 8/1 at the off then unseats his jockey leaving the stalls and was not even classed as a non runner . I feel a betting scam took place for the horse to lose .

The St Leger has been in decline for years
I guess the general feeling is that owners won't risk their best horses in case they win it and get branded as a jumps sire and ruin their stud value .......and when they do win it they usually race the horse as a 4yo desperately trying to win over 10 and 12 furlongs to prove that he's not going to be 'just a jumps sire' I'm surprised that owners don't run their best fillies.......think back to Oh So Sharp, User Friendly and last year Simple Verse......winning the St Leger hasn't damaged their reputations |

What. A. Result.
Don't think I've ever got as animated about a horse winning without a penny of my money on as I did just then. Hard to put into words how fantastic it is to see a small yard triumph in a big race like this. And both Laura and Ian seem like genuinely lovely people. Hope they can keep hold of him, and that they can attract some more more high profile owners off the back of this. Great for Baker as well after yesterday's near misses. Just brilliant all round really except favourite backers not getting a run for their money (thankfully the jockey seems none the worse). |

Great result for the Mongans and the 'ordinary trainers'
Minding goes in the Champion Stakes at Leopardstown shortly and is a very backable 9/4......... |

I watched the Irish Champion stakes but hadn't looked at the card beforehand so didn't know who was running.........but blimey what a stellar line up of this year's middle distance group one winners
Almanzor must now be regarded as the best 3yo in Europe and is vying with Postponed for Arc favouritism |

What the hell is wrong with the video replays at the Curragh on At the Races from Sunday??!!
The other (more minor) meetings from Sunday play fine. The Curragh races are stuttering like crazy and are basically unwatchable. Never have this problem on the Racing UK website. At the Races need to get their act together. Does anyone else have this problem? |

Only just realised the racing is on More 4 rather than Channel 4 due to the Paralympics coverage

Well well well. Godolphin strikes again. James Doyle no longer first choice jockey for Bin Suroor.
Of all the problems Godolphin have right now, I would put James Doyle's riding right at the bottom of the list. Probably for the best anyway. Bin Suroor is an underperforming trainer and has been for some time, and Doyle will get more opportunities next season as a result of this. May even be a champion jockey contender, following in the footsteps of De Sousa after he lost the very same post. |

With Godolphin's much-publicised 'pruning' of their operation I wondered if they were concentrating less on their UK operation and more on their Middle Eastern, what with the disparity in prize money and all that.
Godolphin made a decision many years ago to forgoe the Galileo bloodline, I wonder if that will change when Frankel comes onto the market, I give it a couple of years at most to collar a few Group Ones, then offload. |
