Assuming this is the Sony TV, then as per
http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/13LW6001..._dmtuning.html

After step 4, I am assuming you get a message saying N tv stations found, so you would then follow step 5 to the new channel and repeat step 4.
Otherwise back out to the top menu and repeat steps 1 -4 selecting channel 41 at step 4.

Have now found out how to do it after selecting digital manual tuning I click on channel 28 then change it to channel 41 then click on the home button and that seems to save it.

I hope this problem is now solved as I got a email from Sony suggesting I do a factory reset which I have just done and I am now getting all the correct channels

It's the BBC's new digital text service.
Lots of graphics and not so much info.

I much prefer the non graphic text service.

I disable the internet connection to the TV when I want to view digital text. It will then default to the non graphical version as the graphical version comes via the internet.
The non graphical version comes via the TV signal.

Bit of a pain but it works for me.

On a BBC channel press the red button on your remote. When the page appears, "Featured" is highlighted in red, that is the new internet service. Press the right arrow to change to "Main Menu" and you are back to the old off air text system. Use whichever you prefer.

Hmmm, I will look into that.

When the new service first appeared there was an option to stay with the old type but no matter how many times I selected it, it would not happen.

Then that choice vanished.

Not on my Samsung smart TV, it doesn't.

It seems the only way I can get the old style text service is to disable the internet connection.

My experience is with a W series Sony and I assumed it was a generic BBC app, obviously not.

There was, as has been said, an option to lock the mode but I agree it seems to have gone.
